MTG Avatar: The Last Airbender Release Date, Spoilers, and More

Share

Avatar: The Last Airbender is the final MTG set that will be released in 2025. As the name suggests, this is the year’s final Universes Beyond release, which crosses over with Avatar: The Last Airbender. Playable in all formats, this set already has a huge amount of hype behind it from the franchise’s fans.

Sadly, while many players are interested in the Avatar: The Last Airbender set, details are fairly sparse at the moment. Thankfully, the information we do have is rather exciting, so it’s well worth going over. So, here’s everything there is to know about the Avatar: The Last Airbender MTG set.

The release date for the MTG Avatar: The Last Airbender set is November 21st, 2025. Technically, this is the only date officially released by Wizards of the Coast at this time. Thankfully, we can determine a few other key dates from this one.

For starters, Prerelease events for the Avatar: The Last Airbender MTG set will begin on November 14th, 2025. These events always take place one week before a set’s official release date. Since 2022, prerelease events have also marked the point at which a new set’s cards become legal in all formats.

Before this date, there will also be a spoiler season for Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender. While Wizards hasn’t announced an official date for this, spoiler season typically begins roughly 17 days before prereleases begin. This means we can expect Avatar: The Last Airbender’s spoiler season to begin on November 4th, 2025. Notably, this date has not yet been confirmed.

Last, but by no means least, Wizards of the Coast has also confirmed the First Look date for MTG’s Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover. That occurs on August 12th, 2025.

MTG Avatar: The Last Airbender Spoilers

Avatar Aang Infinite Combo

So far, only one Avatar: The Last Airbender spoiler has been revealed. Thankfully, this one spoiler doesn’t disappoint, as it’s the set’s one and only Headliner Card. As you might expect for a card in this position, Avatar Aang is loaded with powerful abilities. That said, we don’t know what most of them do.

Currently, the four bending abilities haven’t been revealed by Wizards of the Coast, which makes assessing Aang rather difficult. Thankfully, we do know they’re a powerful card draw engine, at least, and a monster once flipped. Capable of discounting costs and providing even more value once transformed back, Aang, Master of Elements is insanely powerful.

While Avatar Aang is definitely going to be strong in Commander, he’s likely not indicative of the set’s overall power level. For that, we’ll have to wait for the set’s spoiler season, which should start around November 4th.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Mechanics

So far, we know that Waterbending, Earthbending, Firebending, and Airbending will appear in Avatar: The Last Airbender. While these mechanics all sound very flavorful, we sadly don’t know what any of them do yet. Thankfully, Wizards will reveal more information soon, on August 12th, to clear up the current confusion.

That’s All For Now

Ultimately, it’s safe to say that we don’t know much about the Avatar: The Last Airbender MTG set at the moment. Thankfully, that will change before too long, as the First Look should fill in a lot of the blanks. On August 12th, we should get a taste of the set’s cards, mechanics, card treatments, and products. Until then, we’ll just have to sit and wait patiently.

Thankfully, Magic: The Gathering is hardly at a standstill until then. Before November, both Edge of Eternities and Marvel’s Spider-Man MTG set will be released. This means there will be tons of spoilers to digest, and cards to play with, to tide us over until more Avatar: The Last Airbender news.
