350-Card MTG Foundations Instant Collection Brings Back Fan-Favorite Click Wheel

MTG Foundations is a rather bizarre set, to say the least. In an attempt to make the sting of Standard rotation feel a little less potent, Wizards of the Coast is giving players some solid ground to stand on. MTG Foundations will remain Standard legal for at least five years. This makes anything from this set rotation-proof for quite some time.

Considering that this set is going to have a massive impact on the Standard for quite some time, fans of the format are eagerly awaiting exactly what’s coming in this set. Today, Wizards of the Coast revealed lots of new information about MTG Foundations, and the most exciting thing revealed may end up exciting Commander players more than anyone.

MTG Foundations Beginner Collection

Of all the announced products we’ve seen today, the Starter Collection is the most unique. This product contains a haul of 350+ Magic cards, including 95 Basic Lands and three Jumpstart Foundations Booster Packs. 22 traditional foils and 14 Tokens are available alongside these cards, but not much else is known about the type of cards you’ll run into.

Ironically, the most exciting thing in the beginner collection may actually be the Click Wheel. These are some of the premier life counters available in the world of Magic, holding your life total even after being knocked over in a particularly rowdy game of Commander.

There is also a Beginner Box releasing alongside MTG Foundations. Including ten Jumpstart Booster packs using cards from MTG Foundations, this bundle comes geared with everything you need to teach a new player how to play MTG.

The unique pieces of this kit that we haven’t seen much of are the gameboard playmats, as well as all of the reference cards and guides that the kit comes with. If you’re looking to indoctrinate a new player into the world of Magic, this would likely make a good gift.

The Usual Inclusions

Past this point, everything that we would expect to see in an MTG release can be found as part of MTG Foundations. Collector Boosters, Bundles, Play Boosters, Jumpstart Boosters, and Prerelease Kits will all be available upon the release of MTG Foundations.

Interestingly, a Fracture Foil Japanese Showcase treatment appears to be the chase element of the MTG Foundations Collector Boosters. Available in less than one percent of MTG Foundations Collector Boosters, these are sure to fetch a pretty penny. For reference, this means that these cards are three times as rare as the $150 Bloomburrow Face Commanders!

If you want to get a head start on MTG Foundations, the set officially releases on November 15th, which likely means that prerelease is the weekend before that. We have MTG Duskmourn in the meantime, but this set is closer than you may think.
