We got some new Magic: the Gathering Adventures in the Forgotten Realms cards previewed today over on the official Dungeons and Dragons Twitch Channel! Today was DragonTalk’s 300th Episode and they previewed 2 new cards from the upcoming set! Let’s dive in a talk about them!

E3n1N0LXEAEXDXe
Wizards of the Coast

The first card is Flumph, a 0/4 Jellyfish creature with Defender and flying. In D&D, Flumph are one of the few good aligned creatures, who dislike evil thoughts, and help adventurers in the quests by sharing those evil thoughts and knowledge with them. This is translated wonderfully to the card, as when this creature takes damage, you and each opponent draw a card. These little guys also fly in D&D so it makes sense to have that here.

Tashas
Wizards of the Coast

The 2nd card that was revealed is Tasha’s Hideous Laughter. Tasha is a character who has a long history in the Forgotten Realms, and Hideous Laughter was one of her go to, signature spells to use in battle. The actual spell in D&D makes a creature find everything hilarious, so much that they fall over laughing and can potentially become incapacitated. They have to succeed a Wisdom saving throw to break the effect. While the card itself won’t necessarily make your opponents laugh, you definitely will be. This spell effect is translated well to the card as milling cards from your opponents deck could be though of as a ‘mind altering’ effect, with the total 20 mana value being like succeeding the Wisdom saving throw.

Both of these cards are really fun and flavorful, and I can’t wait to see what else makes the cut in this new set! Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms is set to release for tabletop worldwide on July 23, 2021. It’s also set to release on Magic: The Gathering Arena and Magic Online a week earlier. The Adventures in the Forgotten Realms products are now available for preorder.
