When the Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease weekend kicked off, it didn’t take long for players to realize that something was wrong. Thanks to MTG Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cards appearing in Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease kits, leaks quickly started taking over the internet. This led to almost every single rare and mythic for the set being spoiled, overshadowing many prerelease events.
What many players didn’t expect, however, was for Wizards of the Coast to confirm these leaks for themselves. While this was first addressed by a Bluesky post, Wizards has since gone on to simply reveal all in a massive 61-card spoiler drop.
MTG TMNT Officially Spoiled

In a new article, Wizards of the Coast officially revealed all of the rares and mythic rares from MTG X TMNT to the world. Much like what happened with Modern Horizons 3, Wizards decided to do this since the unofficial spoilers were already available online. To clear up any potential confusion, Wizards has now updated the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles card image gallery.
While seeing a ton of new cards for an upcoming set is fun, it certainly overshadowed the set that this past weekend was supposed to celebrate. The leaks caused Lorwyn Eclipsed to feel like an afterthought, leaving many players disappointed. Because of this, Wizards of the Coast is working on a new Lorwyn Eclipsed event for affected stores to shine a proper spotlight on the set. What that will be and where it is available are not currently known.
Of course, this also means that the upcoming spoiler season for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is going to be a bit of a strange one. With every rare and mythic officially revealed a few weeks early, the most exciting cards from the set are already available. There’s still plenty of commons and uncommons to look at, but they’re unlikely to appropriately carry a normal week of spoilers. Either way, Wizards of the Coast still has some amazing pieces of art to share, dedicated to finding the best way to celebrate Magic’s latest set.
The New Card

While nearly every rare and mythic appeared over the weekend thanks to the prerelease debacle, one final rare somehow avoided the spotlight until now. Turncoat Kunoichi looks like another classic piece of exile removal attached to a white creature. The flexibility is interesting here, awarding players who pay the harsher Sneak cost with unconditional removal. This could allow the Mutant Ninja Fox to see play in some dedicated Ninjutsu and Panharmonicon strategies that can reliably present unblockable creatures. Even without that, Turncoat Kunoichi has some potential.
Werefox Bodyguard currently sees play in Pioneer Company decks, and Turncoat Kunoichi has some upsides over the Elf Fox Knight. With an extra power to play with, the fox can both deal more damage and become a better blocker. That said, Turncoat Kunoichi is unable to target creatures its owner controls, meaning that there isn’t any room to pull off Flicker shenanigans.
Considering that Werefox Bodyguard doesn’t see play outside of Pioneer, there’s a decent chance that the last TMNT rare will just be a powerful Limited bomb. Fortunately, for those curious, there are a lot more exciting and powerful cards to see.
While the leak itself wasn’t ideal, if some of the new TMNT cards look exciting, you won’t have to wait long. Prerelease for the upcoming set start on February 27th, meaning that these cards are only a little over a month away.
