Time Spiral: Remastered, the first ever remastered Magic: The Gathering set releasing for tabletop play, is scheduled to release this March. The expansion is a new way to experience the Time Spiral block originally released in 2006-2007, and features cards from Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, and Future Sight sets distilled into one Booster Draft experience.
Time Spiral Remastered was announced in September 2020, when Wizards of the Coast revealed the set road map for 2021. It is the first non-Standard legal set releasing this year, and the other one is Modern Horizons 2. Just like the original Time Spiral set, each booster pack of Time Spiral Remastered will contain one Timeshifted card, separate group of cards from the main set.
The set symbol of Time Spiral Remastered is a tilted hourglass with a cut in the middle, which is similar to the hourglass symbol of the original Time Spiral set.

When will Time Spiral Remastered be released?
The 2021 Magic: The Gathering set road map revealed that Time Spiral Remastered will be released sometime in Q2 2021. Although no specific release date was announced back in September, Wizards of the Coast revealed when it will be released in stores: March 19, 2021.
In an episode of Good Morning Magic, MTG Senior Designer Gavin Verhey confirmed the release date of Time Spiral Remastered.
How many cards are in the main set of Time Spiral Remastered?
The main set of Time Spiral Remastered has 289 cards: 121 Commons, 100 Uncommons, 53 Rares, and 15 Mythics, and the cards come from Time Spiral, Planar Chaos and Future Sight.
What about the Time Spiral Remastered bonus sheet?
Timeshifted cards in the special sheet of Time Spiral Remastered are a specific selection of cards “outside of the set”. The time-shifted cards feature the original (pre-Modern) card frame and a purple expansion symbol. Premium foil versions also have the “shooting star” watermark used on pre-Modern set foils.
There are 131 new cards in the bonus sheet of Time Spiral Remastered, and none of the time-shifted cards from the Time Spiral block will be reprinted. In an episode of Good Morning Magic!, Verhey said that there will be cards that are viable in various MTG formats such as Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Standard, and Pauper, so look forward to top-level viable cards for competitive play but don’t expect all the cards from the bonus sheet to be great in competitive formats.
When will previews for Time Spiral Remastered exactly start?
The official previews for Time Spiral Remastered will begin on Thurday, Feb 25, 2021. Verhey said that he will release a new Good Morning Magic! episode that day to reveal more information about the remastered set.
Time Spiral Remastered spoilers: What cards have been revealed so far?
Remastered Magic sets usually bring back cards from the sets in the block it’s remastering, but not all cards from Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, and Future Sight will probably get reprinted in Time Spiral Remastered. WotC hasn’t revealed the full list of cards from Time Spiral Remastered but a few cards have already been confirmed.
The first four cards from Time Spiral Remastered they revealed are Path to Exile, Relentless Rats, Chalice of the Void, and Cranial Plating. All these cards are part of the bonus sheet of Time-shifted not part of the main set.

Any promo cards in Time Spiral Remastered?
On Jan. 1, Wizards of the Coast revealed that the buy-a-box/release promo for Time Spiral Remastered is Lotus Bloom.
This promo version of Lotus Bloom won’t be available in the Draft Booster box of Time Spiral Remastered, and you can get the promo card for each TSR Booster Box purchased or at each Webcam or In-Store event attended.
At-Home Release Events won’t offer this promotion, so players can only receive the promo if they are participating in an event at their WPN (Wizards Play Network) local game store, via webcam, or purchasing a full box.
When are the events for Time Spiral Remastered?
In-store Launch parties will be availably only in some regions. Many stores will most likely still be closed due ot the COVID-19 pandemic, so expect in-store events for Time Spiral Remastered to be limited in most areas.
Webcam Launch Parties will be held on March 19-21.

Will Time Spiral Remastered be available on Magic: The Gathering Arena or Magic Online?
Although we’ve seen remastered sets in both Magic: The Gathering Arena before such as Amonkhet Remastered and Kaladesh Remastered, Time Spiral Remastered will not be available on MTG Arena, but it will be available on Magic Online. There will be a Supreme Draft event available in MTGO on March 19.
What are the mechanics featured in Time Spiral Remastered?
Since this Time Spiral Remastered is a remastered set, expect the same mechanics featured in the original Time Spiral block. Mechanics like Split Second, Suspend, Storm, Morph, Flashback, Buyback, Threshold, Vanishing, Echo, Kicker, Madness, and Flash are expected to return.
Any other fun facts about Time Spiral Remastered?
According to Verhey, the development of Time Spiral Remastered predates the Magic: The Gathering Arena remastered sets (Amonkhet Remastered and Kaladesh Remastered), but the set that it takes the most inspiration from is Tempest Remastered, a Magic Online-only set.
What does the packaging of Time Spiral Remastered look like?
Wizards of the Coast hasn’t officially revealed the packaging for Time Spiral Remastered yet, but we will update this article once more images and information are revealed. However, we do know that Time Spiral Draft Boosters will consist of 36 booster packs each with 16 cards.
