On Monday morning, a thief broke into a Green Bay-based game store, Frost Giant Games, and stole some sealed Magic: The Gathering cards.

WeAreGreenBay.com reports that store owner Anthony Folk said that the break-in took place on August 2 around 8:30 a.m. According to Folk, another store owner from the same shopping plaza heard the suspect’s noise, so he went to investigate.

The suspect ran away after he noticed that the other store owner saw them.

Due to their knowledge of the building’s layout, the suspect is thought to have been in the store prior to the break-in, the report says.

The thief stole boxes of Magic: The Gathering, according to Folk, but the owner didn’t specify the names of the products.

Of course, this isn’t the first time in recent years that a burglar stole Magic: The Gathering cards from a local game store. Last year, Epicstream reported about a Minnesota-based game store that had Magic and Pokemon TCG cards stolen.

How local game stores can protect their valuables

Long-time Magic: The Gathering collector Anthony Avitollo shared some advice for local game stores and collectors to protect their valuables:

1) Buy a gun non-transportable safe resistant from fire and water damage

2) Don’t leave your cards in a car, not even in the trunk.

3) Document every MTG purchases, keep track of your buy history, take screenshots of online purchases. Online inventory is not enough.

4) Take photos of your collections.
