If you’re looking to kill some time as the new year approaches, chances are you’re logging into MTG Arena. Whether you’re trying to play a few casual games or complete your last-minute rush to the Mythic Rank, there’s lots to do on the platform.
Right before the end of the year, an interesting sale has popped up on MTG Arena. If you’ve got some spare in-game currency and are looking to draft sometime soon, consider logging in to pick up a discounted Draft Token before it disappears.
MTG Arena Draft Token Sale
Occasionally, MTG Arena Draft Tokens will appear on sale in the shop’s ‘daily deals’ section of the in-game shop. Generally, entering a premier draft costs 10,000 coins or 1500 gems. Instead, this token represents a draft for 6,750 coins or 1350 gems.
If you can, purchasing this token with coins is much better. While the gem value of this deal is 10% off, like the description suggests, the coin value is more than 25% off of the original price. Sweetening the deal further, coins are the free-to-play currency, making this sale very accessible.
This discrepancy immediately caught the attention of the MTG Arena community:
“It’s a bug (?) they’ve had for a while with these particular daily deals, the 10% off applies to the Gem discount just fine and it seems as though the back end scripting takes the typical 1:5 ratio value for Gems:Gold and applies that to determine the Gold price based on the 1,350 Gem price (as there is a Gem “discount” when comparing the price to enter a Traditional/Premier Draft compared to it’s Gold price).
But hey, as a humble and hard working F2P I’ll take whatever I can get lol, it aint much, but it’s honest work.”

The MTG Arena economy is far from cheap. Rare and Mythic wildcards are quite expensive, making deckbuilding a tedious affair for players. Draft is one of the best ways to build your collection, assuming you can win several games. This token should, hopefully, allow many players to complete a few successful drafts during the new year.
Upon seeing that this MTG Arena sale is up for offer today, many MTG Arena players were immediately kicking themselves for not having enough in-game currency to buy:
“Damn I don’t have enough gold when they finally have a good deal”

For reference, these Draft Tokens do not expire as of the writing of this article. Even if you don’t want to use this right away, you should be able to cash in your token when you want to. Heck, you could wait for the release of Aetherdrift in the new year if you really wanted. Notably, this token can only be redeemed for a Premier or Traditional Draft.
Act Fast!
As of the writing of this article, the MTG Arena Token sale is only available for another 19 hours. This sale will end at 11:00 AM EST, or 8:00 AM PST on December 31, 2024. If you plan on entering a premier draft on MTG Arena any time in the future, especially if you’re a free-to-play player, this is likely the cheapest draft that will be available for some time.
As mentioned by players, these Draft Token sales don’t come up too often. Hopefully, Wizards of the Coast sees the positive reaction to this sale and offers something similar again as a daily deal in the near future.
