This past weekend, one more Magic: The Gathering player earned a World Championship XXVI invite as the May Strixhaven: School of Mages League Weekend concluded an intense week in competitive Magic.
Czech professional player and Rivals League member Stansilav Cifka has joined Eli Kassis, Ondřej Stráský, and last year’s World Champion Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa (PVDDR) as confirmed participants at Magic World Championship XXVI
Cifka earned his Worlds qualification by winning a best-of-three tiebreaker series against Matt Sperling, and their match was a Sultai Ultimatum mirror. Sperling is still at the top of the Rivals League, who will be looking to compete against Luis Scott-Vargas, who dominated this weekend’s Historic rounds with an undefeated record.
Here is Cifka’s Standard Sultai Ultimatum decklist:
The Czech professional is known for winning Pro Tour Return to Ravnica in 2012, and he also made top eight at Pro Tour Journey Into Nyx in 2014, as well as three Grand Prix top 8’s.
Stráský and Kassis qualified as the top finishers in the April Strixhaven League Weekend, and since Damo da Rosa is the reigning World Champion, he is automatically qualified for Worlds. PVDDR’s top finish this weekend earns him an invite to the MPL next season, which will be the final season for the MPL since Wizards announced its elimination last week.
