Nic Kelman Steps Down as Wizards of the Coast Head of Story and Entertainment

Author Nic Kelman has announced that he is stepping down as Wizards of the Coast Head of Story and Entertainment after holding the position for three-and-a-half years.

On Facebook and Twitter, he posted a message along with an illustration of the power button symbol: “Thanks to Wizards of the Coast for a great 3.5 years – excited to start a new career chapter!”

Kelman’s post on stepping down as Wizards of the Coast Head of Story and Entertainment:

One of Kelman’s responsibilities in his role at Wizards of the Coast is serving as an Executive Producer of the upcoming Magic: The Gathering Netflix animated series. Kelman also worked with eOne to develop and produce film and television for all Wizards of the Coast brands.

Back in October 2019, A.E. Marling wrote an article on Medium criticizing Wizards for employing Kelman due to his previous work called Girls: A Paean that explicitly featured adult men having sexual relationships with pubescent girls. In November 2019, Kelman was also faced criticism when fans expressed their disappointment in Greg Weisman’s War of the Spark novel.

Wizards of the Coast hasn’t officially announced a new Head of Story and Entertainment or confirmed Kelman’s exit.
