Time Spiral Remastered, the first-ever remastered Magic: The Gathering set designed for tabletop play, is scheduled to release next month, and the official previews are coming this week!
To hype fans up for the Time Spiral Remastered, Magic senior designer Gavin Verhey has shared a sneak peek for the upcoming set in the latest episode of Good Morning Magic! on YouTube, and although he didn’t reveal any cards from the upcoming set, he revealed some details about Time Spiral Remastered’s main set and bonus sheet.
Time Spiral Remastered fun fact:
Time Spiral Remastered predates the Magic: The Gathering Arena remastered sets (Amonkhet Remastered and Kaladesh Remastered), but the set that it takes the most inspiration from is Tempest Remastered, a Magic Online-only set.
How many cards are in the main set of Time Spiral Remastered?
The main set has 289 cards: 121 Commons, 100 Uncommons, 53 Rares, and 15 Mythics, and the cards come from Time Spiral, Planar Chaos and Future Sight.
What about the Time Spiral Remastered bonus sheet?
There are 131 new cards in the bonus sheet of Time Spiral Remastered, and none of the time-shifted cards from the Time Spiral block will be reprinted. As shown in the Time Spiral Remastered spoiler section, the first four cards from this bonus sheet WOTC revealed are Path to Exile, Chalice of the Void, Relentless Rats, and Cranial Plating. Verhey said that there will be cards that are viable in various MTG formats such as Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Standard, and Pauper, so look forward to top-level viable cards for competitive play but don’t expect all the cards from the bonus sheet to be great in competitive formats.
When does the preview for Time Spiral Remastered exactly start?
Verhey went on to remind us that the official previews for Time Spiral Remastered will be revealed this Thursday, and that he will release a new Good Morning Magic! episode that day to reveal more information about the remastered set.
Time Spiral Remastered is scheduled to release on March 31, 2021.
