New Exclusive MTG Commander Reprint Could be Worth $150+

Japan’s seasonal Planeswalker Series promos are continuous hits season after season. Thanks to their exclusivity, further hidden behind difficult acquisition conditions, these promos not only have amazing art, but they’re also incredibly valuable.

Japan has just announced its next Planeswalker series promos, and while there are no Planeswalkers to speak of, two powerful Standard legal cards are getting some beautiful reprints.

Planeswalker Series Promos – July 2025

Magic: The Gathering’s latest Planeswalker Promos include Inti, Senaschal of the Sun from Lost Caverns of Ixalan, and Delney, Streetwise Lookout from Murders at Karlov Manor. The Delney promo in particular is an interesting choice, as this is a card with strictly Commander appeal. Notably, the Commander format is not as popular in Japan as it is in North America.

Between the two, Delney, Streetwise Lookout will be the rarer card. To acquire these cards in Japan, players need to either win a competitive or casual-level Standard event, which is specifically designed for distributing these cards. In both cases, 16 players will receive the participation promo Inti, Senaschal of the Sun. Only the winner and runner-up will receive a Delney, Streetwise Lookout.

In competitive events, Delney will go to the top two players after swiss rounds of Standard. In casual events, the Standard is just for fun, and the two Delneys’ recipients are decided by a Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament that occurs afterwards.

As far as playability goes, both of these cards are decent reprints. Inti, Senaschal of the Sun isn’t the most popular card right now, but it has seen lots of competitive play since its release across formats. Inti works best in decks that want to discard cards, like Boros Monument in Standard. In those shells, the card can create tons of card advantage with its Impulse draw ability, and can make for decent pressure.

Delney, on the other hand, offers a replacement effect that doubles the triggers on creatures with two or less power. Replacement effects generally offer exponential value instead of immediate value, which does much better in longer, grindier Commander games than in constructed games where cards get removed on impact. Delney is a very popular Commander card, seeing play in over 83,000 different Commander decks according to EDHREC.

Regardless of what formats you play, as we’ll soon see, both of these cards, in their own ways, are impressive reprints.

Reprint Value

Between the two reprints, Delney, Streetwise Lookout is more valuable, and it’s not particularly close. Delney’s cheapest variant is worth a whopping $24. This is the most expensive card in the entire Murders at Karlov Manor set, ahead of even the Surveil Lands.

Looking back at previous Planeswalker Series Promo reprints, there’s a very good chance that this particular Delney is going to have a massive premium. Nissa, Resurgent Animist, for example, has about a $20 USD value in Japan according to Hareruya. The recent Planeswalker Series chase card from last season, however, has a secondary market value of $69. That value further increases in North America, at a stellar $157.

A similar premium on Delney would put her over $70 for this printing in Japan. The Wandering Emperor might be the most egregious example of this, seeing an increase from $7 to $345 in Japan, and a $650 one in North America. Make no mistake, this Delney is going to be expensive.

Inti, on the other hand, is also rather likely to see a premium, but it won’t be quite as impressive. Inti’s reprint value is below a dollar, but the card does see consistent, occasional play, making it a decent reprint for a participation promo.

Last season’s participation reprint promo, Get Lost, is a bit more impressive from a value perspective and has about a 100% premium compared to its other copies. That’s going to be a bit awkward to translate for Inti, but most Planeswalker Series participation promos have a premium of at least a few dollars. That’s where we expect Inti to land, but if the card starts seeing a lot of play, as it did in the past, Inti’s value could increase.

While these cards are a bit difficult to acquire in North America at the onset, as supply starts to hit the secondary market, it won’t be as difficult to find these cards as you expect. Players can always find Planeswalker Series cards on Hareruya and, when available, they will also appear on U.S. storefronts like TCGplayer. If you’re interested in acquiring these cards to bling out your MTG decks, be sure to keep an eye out starting July 1st, 2025. The Planeswalker Series for these promos will last until September 30th, 2025.
