Multiple MTG Foundations Jumpstart Rares Balloon Past $50

MTG Foundations Jumpstart is a unique supplemental set with a wide range of powerful cards. While these cards aren’t Standard legal, many of them have appeal in Commander and beyond.

In fact, a couple cards in particular have erupted in price over the past few days. Eclipsing the $50 mark isn’t easy to do, especially for cards that aren’t mythic rares. Yet, two rare creatures have done just that. Let’s take a closer look.

Rev, Tithe Extractor: $65

Rev Tithe Extractor

The first card up is Rev, Tithe Extractor. Rev is a neat legend to build around in EDH. The goal is to attack with evasive creatures, allowing you to create Treasure tokens and generate card advantage by stealing cards from your opponents.

Interestingly, though, Rev isn’t an incredible Commander by any means. It also hasn’t made any noticeable impact in Eternal formats. Yet, Rev has still seen a massive price spike in the past few days. Back on November 9, Rev sat at roughly $25 according to TCGPlayer market price history. By itself, this made Rev one of the priciest cards in the whole set.

Over the next few days, the card continued to climb. The biggest jump occurred from November 13 to 14, where the card ballooned from $38.49 to $67.23. The card has since settled to about $65, which is absolutely incredible for a Jumpstart rare.

Scythecat Cub: $49

Scythecat Cub

After Rev, the next most expensive card in Jumpstart is Scythecat Cub. Scythecat Cub has received some hype for Legacy due to its synergy with Fetchlands. It can fill a similar role as Bristly Bill, Spine Sower in Bant Nadu shells, but it has the upside of working well in multiples and having Trample.

Once again, the card sat close to $25 on November 9 and 10. By November 16, that price had skyrocketed to over $51. At the time of writing this article, the market price is $48.57.

It’s incredible to see how much demand these Foundations Jumpstart cards are getting. Notably, the increase in price of some of the set’s chase rares may have also played a role in the price of MTG Foundations sealed product going up as well.

Back on November 13, Jumpstart booster boxes were consistently selling for close to $106. By contrast, nearly all sales today so far have been over the $130 mark. If you’re looking to crack some Jumpstart packs in the near future, make sure to be on the lookout for these heavy hitters.
