MTG Spider Man Accessories Unexpectedly Appear Under Disney Partner

Share

A few weeks ago, many MTG players were surprised when Ulra Pro announced that their MTG Spider Man accessory product line was canceled. With this announcement, players suspected that we would not be getting any MTG Spider Man card accessories to accompany the official release of the set.

That no longer appears to be the case. In an unexpected turn of events, MTG Spider Man will be getting the usual accessories that players have grown to expect. Instead of Ultra Pro creating the products, however, Gamegen!c is responsible.

MTG, Marvel, and Gamegen!c

Today, Gamegen!c announced in a press release that it would release MTG Spider Man themed accessories after officially partnering with Wizards of the Coast. The briefing showed off Spider Man themed sleeves, deckboxes, binders, and playmats all using art that appears in the Magic and Marvel crossover. This is rather typical for an MTG release, but traditionally, these products would always be created by either Ultra Pro or the controversial Ultimate Guard.

This isn’t a one-time deal, either. According to the press release, Gamegen!c will become an official licensee for Wizards of the Coast moving forward. “Starting in 2026, Gamegen!c will release a full range of products for upcoming Magic: The Gathering sets.”

This seems to have come from nowhere, but many players suspect that previous partnerships between Gamegen!c and Disney are what led to this. The brand is notably responsible for card accessories from the Marvel Champions game, another card game using an IP owned by Disney, but created by Fantasy Flight Games. Gamegen!c also does card accessories for the Star Wars card game. Players speculate that this likely has an impact on Gamegen!c becoming an official MTG licensee, but it has not been confirmed in any way.

Notably, this is not the first time that Gamegen!c has interacted with Magic: The Gathering. While it is the first time Gamegen!c has interacted with Magic officially, Gamegen!c notably collaborated with The Professor, one of Magic’s most prolific content creators, to create ‘The Academic,’ a deckbox that Gamegen!c still sells today. It is considered among the best deckboxes that an MTG player can buy.

Many players are excited about Gamegen!c’s official partnership with MTG. This is the first time that the company has received a chance to produce official MTG accessories, and Gamegen!c’s quality is considered by many to be quite good. This new partnership will hopefully encourage Gamegen!c, Ultra Pro, and Ultimate Guard to create the best products possible to fulfill the wishes of MTG players. This healthy competition should also encourage Ultimate Guard to rethink its recent controversies, too.

Despite those controversies, and Gamegen!c’s sudden MTG partnership, we also know that Ultimate Guard isn’t going anywhere, and that’s a good thing. Ultimate Guard has already produced many Avatar: The Last Airbender-related MTG products, suggesting that they will be releasing the accompanying accessories for that crossover.

Gamegen!c announced that these MTG Spider Man accessories will debut at MagicCon: Atlanta between September 26th and 28th. The accessories will be available in the U.S. in early October of this year, and will be reaching Canada and Europe in mid-late October.
