Since Wizards of the Coast is off for the holidays, MTG tends to be relatively quiet this time of year. Bizarrely, that seems to be far from the case for 2025, thanks to a series of leaks that have crept up today. On top of some leaks from earlier today, it appears that a new Secret Lair Commander deck is in the works, and it is accompanied by some extremely strange artwork.
As a quick reminder, because these are leaks, there is a chance that these cards could be fake. That said, more often than not, these MTG leaks end up being the real deal.
MTG Secret Lair Leaks

Appearing the MTG Rumors Reddit, it seems that a new odd-themed MTG Secret Lair Commander precon is on its way. Featuring artwork from the beloved Ricardo Cavalo, we have three new reprints reimagined in his wacky style. Early speculation pins this down as a Commander precon judging by all the cards seen behind the bizarre Basic Island.
While we don’t know much about this Secret Lair leak at time of writing, Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign appears to be the Commander. Casting spells for free off the top of your deck whenever Yennett reveals an odd-costed spell, this card is certainly strong enough to create a fun, thematic build for a Secret Lair precon. As exciting as a precon based around this card might be, the reprint value for Yennett is far from ideal. Going for less than a dollar, this card will likely have a Secret Lair premium, but players won’t be lined up at the door to grab copies of this card.
Sol Ring, on the other hand, has a bit more potential. Once again, this card’s reprint value is poor, but the Secret Lair premiums for this card are routinely quite high. The Sol Ring in the revent Everyone’s Invited precon, for example, goes for about $30 despite the card having a $1 reprint value. Players already seem to love this Sol Ring, suggesting that this one might have an even higher premium than usual.
Sadly, that’s all we know about the new rumored Secret Lair Commander deck. Making things even stranger, if the dates on these cards are right, this Secret Lair is supposed to release this year, which makes little sense.
Confusing Dates
As was pointed out by many players, these cards have a 2025 date on them. Considering that we’re at the start of the holiday season, and Wizards of the Coast is on vacation, there is a very slim chance that these dates end up being true. We already know that the Dandan Secret Lair has been delayed until the new year, which suggests the delays could have happened to other unannounced Secret Lairs as well. All of that said, the release date for this potential Secret Lair is still unknown.
