Pyroclasm is one of the biggest reprints in Duskmourn. We haven’t seen the entire set yet, and this should still remain true. One of the best board wipes in competitive Magic, two mana to deal two damage to all creatures is an absolutely insane rate. Many players expect Pyroclasm to be a massive tool to combat the Convoke menace in both Pioneer and Standard.
As a result, it should be no surprise that fancy versions of Pyroclasm are seeing a price increase. This card has tons of printings over Magic’s history, but anyone who wants to play their decks in style has a clear, and expensive, Pyroclasm choice.

Pyroclasm is not an expensive Magic card. Thanks to tons of printings, Pyroclasm doesn’t even cost most players a dollar to acquire. That said, if you want to tech your deck out with the coolest Pyroclasm on the market, prepare to pay.
This textless Pyroclasm was awarded as part of the Magic Player Rewards program. This was one of the most beloved and missed programs from Magic’s past. Player Rewards were mailed cards sent out to your mailbox based on your attendance at MTG events.
Thanks to Duskmourn’s Pyroclasm reprint, which made the card Standard and Pioneer legal, this specific copy of Pyroclasm, in heavily played condition, has spiked from about 60 cents to $2.50. Notably, prices for this card are all over the place. There have been sales for as high as $9.75 in lightly played condition. $2.50 is closer to the higher end of sales for the heavily played condition. You can find this specific copy of Pyroclasm for less in that condition.
Bizarrely, this card started spiking in July. Considering that players just saw the Pyroclasm reprint a few days ago, this could be a bit confusing. Notably, this does match the release window for Modern Horizons 3. Players could have been picking up Pyroclasms to compete with the emerging Energy decks, but it’s difficult to know for sure.

Broken Sideboard Tech on a Budget
The good news is that anyone looking for some incredible sideboard tech into aggressive matchups for Standard or Pioneer has one of the best pieces of tech from Magic’s history for a budget. There are so many copies of Pyroclasm out there that seeing a price spike across variants is incredibly unlikely. These fancy ones, however, will likely continue to increase in price.
