While we’re deep in spoiler season for The Hobbit now, Wizards isn’t quite done with Marvel Super Heroes just yet. Like Spider-Man before it, this set is getting four new action figures, all sporting MTG Marvel Super Heroes Commander promos. Given how pricey the last round of these ended up, this is an exciting development indeed.
The MTG Marvel Super Heroes Legends Promos
As revealed earlier today at San Diego Comic-Con, four new MTG Marvel Legends figures are set for release soon. All four contain an exclusive alternate art promo card, with the full range including Captain America, Team Leader, Doctor Doom, King of Latveria, Invisible Woman, and T’Challa, the Black Panther.
Interestingly, all four of these promos are face Commanders from the Marvel Super Heroes Commander precons. The base versions of these cards aren’t particularly expensive at present, with Doom leading the way at $6.26, Captain America at $4, and the other two at around $1. While these values are unexciting, it is worth bearing in mind the price trajectory of the last round of Marvel Legends promos.
Looking back at the previous set, all four promos far outpace their base versions in terms of value. Iron Spider, Stark Upgrade and Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer are the big winners, clocking in at $48 and $42.50, respectively. With Spectacular Spider-Man at $18, and Huntmaster of the Fells at $16, there are no real duds even on the lower end of this lineup.
With this in mind, we could see similarly solid prices on the new promos revealed today. We won’t know for sure until the figures are on shelves, however, and it’s unclear when that’ll be, as we only know pre-orders go live on August 13th.
