MTG Lorwyn Eclipsed: Release Date, Spoilers, Leaks, and More

Share

After 18 years, Magic: The Gathering is finally returning to MTG Lorwyn. As one of the most beloved planes in MTG, it’s safe to say this return has been a long time coming. At long last, Lorwyn Eclipsed is now on the horizon, and hype is at an all-time high.

Originally intended to be released in late 2025, this set was unfortunately pushed to 2026 following release schedule changes. While it has taken longer to arrive than desired, details about this set are now starting to emerge. Not only do we have a release date to look forward to, but spoilers are expected to be revealed imminently, too.

MTG Lorwyn Eclipsed Release Date

The MTG set Lorwyn Eclipsed will officially be released on January 23rd, 2026. This makes it the first Magic: The Gathering set to be released in 2026. While we have had MTG sets released in this early window before, typically, these have been Remastered sets. Notably, this makes it difficult to predict when the spoiler season for Lorwyn Eclipsed will be.

Usually, we expect the spoiler season for an MTG set to start three and a half weeks before the main set’s release. Should this precedent continue, spoilers for Lorwyn Eclipsed should start on December 30th. Notably, while this is technically possible, it’s very unlikely spoilers will actually start on this date.

Since Wizards of the Coast typically takes a break over the holidays, spoilers may be delayed until January. If this happens, we’ll likely see a shorter spoiler season, which potentially only lasts one week. While it was a smaller set, the Marvel’s Spider-Man set managed this without too much difficulty.

Ultimately, while the official release date has been confirmed, the other dates are all still mysteries. Thankfully, Wizards should be providing more information soon.

So far, no official spoilers for Lorwyn Eclipsed have been revealed, but that will be changing soon. Wizards of the Coast will reveal the first Lorwyn Eclipsed spoilers on September 26th, 2025. On this date, Wizards will hold a Preview Panel at MagicCon: Atlanta to reveal much of the 2026 release calendar.

Alongside revealing the names and themes of upcoming sets, this event will also be the First Look at Lorwyn Eclipsed. Typically, these events showcase a handful of spoilers from the set, along with plenty of artwork. This event should also provide the key dates for Lorwyn Eclipsed, including the official start date of the spoiler season.

Before this event happens, there’s a non-zero chance that Wizards will unveil part of, or all of, a Lorwyn Eclipsed card. This has been done previously to increase hype for the set in the lead-up to an announcement. While such a reveal isn’t guaranteed, if it does happen, we’ll be sure to cover it here, so watch this space.

While Wizards of the Coast has not revealed too many details just yet, some things have been leaked ahead of schedule. Notably, while exciting, these leaks aren’t confirmed, so there’s a chance they could be fake. As always, until Wizards officially confirms these details, it’s worthwhile being somewhat skeptical about them.

Authenticity disclaimer aside, it appears that Lorwyn Eclipsed will have preconstructed 60-card decks available for purchase. This is according to GTS Distribution, which is selling eight decks via four displays, which likely means two unique decks in total. Supposedly, these decks will contain 60 cards, five double-sided tokens, a reference card, and a deck box.

In theory, this unique product could be a reimagined Challenger Deck; however, those contained 75 cards. Potentially, this may mean that these Lorwyn Eclipsed decks are a new, unique product, or something intended for beginners. Hopefully, Wizards will reveal more details at the upcoming First Look event.

On top of leaking the existence of these smaller precons, GTS Distribution also states there will be four Commander decks. While this wouldn’t be the greatest revelation in MTG, Wizards has been quietly reducing the number of precons produced each year. That said, given the hype around Lorwyn Eclipsed, it wouldn’t be surprising if Wizards went all out.

More Coming Soon

Thankfully, while information about Lorwyn Eclipsed is fairly sparse at the moment, more should be revealed soon. Once the set’s First Look rolls around later this month, we should have a much clearer picture of what to expect. Notably, don’t expect to hear much about Lorwyn Eclipsed after this event takes place.

As much as 2026 is fast approaching, 2025 isn’t done yet. In November, the Avatar: The Last Airbender set will be launching on the 21st. With previews for this set expected to begin on August 28th, there should be plenty of content to tide us over until 2026 begins in earnest.
