MTG Final Fantasy Spoilers to Be Revealed Tomorrow

Share

To put it lightly, 2025 is an incredibly busy year for Magic: The Gathering. For the first time ever, six Standard-legal sets are being released this year, three of which are Universes Beyond crossovers. Considering how successful the Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth was, all eyes are on these crossovers.

Kicking things off with a bang, the Final Fantasy MTG set is expected to be the biggest Universes Beyond set this year. Given that Spider-Man is getting their very own set later on, this is quite some feat. As mighty as Marvel is, however, there’s no denying that Final Fantasy is a true cultural juggernaut.

At long last, we’re about to get our first proper look at the Final Fantasy set this week. Tomorrow, Wizards will debut the set’s first official spoilers during the hugely-anticipated First Look event. Here’s all the information you need to know.

MTG Final Fantasy First Look

The First Look event for the Final Fantasy MTG set will be held on February 18th, 2025. Specifically, Wizards will be showcasing the set during the WeeklyMTG livestream, which happens almost every Tuesday. As usual, this event will begin at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. For reference, this is 1 PM ET or 6 PM GMT.

Currently, Wizards of the Coast hasn’t confirmed exactly what we’ll see during the livestream, but we can make some assumptions. Past First Look events have always shown off a handful of spoilers, and Final Fantasy should be no different. On top of getting a few new cards to look at, we can also expect plenty of art, and official dates to look forward to.

While no spoilers have been spoiled thus far, it’s basically guaranteed we’ll see an iconic Final Fantasy character or two tomorrow. Not only is it standard practice for an MTG set to show off something big to build hype, but Final Fantasy has no shortage of familiar faces. If anything, it’s just a question of choosing which game’s protagonist to show off first.

Thankfully, in case you’re worried, the Final Fantasy MTG set won’t be as powerful as The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth. Even though we haven’t seen anything yet, Wizards knew the set would be Standard-legal throughout development. As such, the set’s cards should hopefully be appropriately scaled to the format’s power level.

Ultimately, while these reassuring words have helped calm nerves, a lot is riding on the Final Fantasy MTG set. If the set doesn’t look the part, the Standard format, and Magic as a whole, could suffer a serious thematic blow. Subsequently, there are bound to be a lot of eyes on tomorrow’s livestream.

The Full Release

While it is still a ways away, Wizards of the Coast has already confirmed the release date for the Final Fantasy set. Barring any last-minute changes, which have been uncommon recently, the MTG Final Fantasy set will launch on June 13th, 2025. It is expected that spoilers will begin roughly three weeks before this date, but that is unconfirmed.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long for official confirmation, since spoiler season dates are typically revealed during First Look events. If you can’t wait that long, worry not, as we’ve been treated to some early Final Fantasy goodness! IGN has just revealed the four face Commanders for the reconstructed Final Fantasy Commander decks. We’ll be diving deep into these in our own articles which will be available shortly.
