New MTG Fallout Secret Lair Includes Infamous Infinite Mill Engine

Back to the Wasteland for another round of bangers!

It seems like Wizards is pulling no punches when it comes to pumping out MTG content in 2026. Last week saw the entirety of Lorwyn Eclipsed revealed in just four days: a blistering pace by anyone’s standards. While this, theoretically, would’ve allowed for a bit of downtime in between releases, that idea has been swiftly shattered today. In a surprise Facebook post, Bethesda has announced a new MTG Fallout Secret Lair drop is on the way.

A New MTG Fallout Secret Lair, Feat. Mindcrank

Bethesda chose to introduce its new Secret Lair drop to the world by revealing one of its cards, and it picked a doozy. Mindcrank is a true classic among MTG artifacts, offering one of the few reliable ways to win a mill victory for just two mana.

The card is a slam-dunk win condition in Syr Konrad, the Grim Commander decks, where it offers an easily-accessible, almost-infinite combo. Each time an opponent mills a creature, Konrad will ping them, which will cause them to mill again. If you get lucky, this can mill/burn them out on the spot.

For more reliable wins, you can also pair Mindcrank with Bloodchief Ascension or Duskmantle Guildmage in the 99. While a bit trickier to set up, these cards damage your opponent whenever they mill anything, so there’s no chance of the loop whiffing.

Thanks to these uniquely powerful applications, Mindcrank is a reasonably pricey card. On the low end, regular copies will run you around $12 at present, which is no joke for an uncommon. Naturally, this new version being a Secret Lair printing will probably push it higher than that. The version of Mindcrank released in the recent Iron Maiden Secret Lair drop goes for $16, for example, so we can expect something on that level at least. With how high the Fallout IP is flying at the moment, I’d expect it to cost even more.

More To Come

MTG Fallout Secret Lair Past Version

While Mindcrank is definitely an exciting start, it’s only a taste of what’s in store in the new MTG Fallout Secret Lair drop. Right now, the only other information we have to go on comes from the Facebook post, which states, “More from Secret Lair soon.”

This leaves things very much open, but there are some clues to work with. The big one is season two of the Fallout television show, which is currently airing worldwide. The season finale is set to air on February 4th, so a release around then to tie into the hype seems reasonable.

The original Fallout drops were also notable for advertising their rare bonus card, an ultra-pricey Mana Vault, in advance. That card now sells for around $1,500, so hopefully we see something similar this time around. In any case, we don’t know anything else about the new MTG Fallout Secret Lair for certain, so we’ll need to sit tight and wait for more information on these new drops.
