Four New Fallout-Themed MTG Bonus Cards Reprint Classic Commander Staples

Share

Unlike many past Secret Lair drops, the Fallout-themed Rad Superdrop was actually not too terrible. While we’ve grown accustomed to having drops sell out in hours, each of this Superdrop’s drops took its time selling out. Even now, multiple drops from this release are still available, including the Beyond Vault 33 drop, which includes new mechanically unique cards.

Thankfully, with plentiful supply mitigating the problems with the limited-run printing model, MTG players can revel in the improved shipping speed. Already, drops from the Rad Superdrop have made their way to players and subsequently online. Luckily, for anyone sitting on the fence about getting one of these drops, the newly revealed bonus cards are all rather compelling.

Academy Manufactor

Academy Manufactor Bonus Card

Appearing in over 322,000 Commander decks, Academy Manufactor is a true staple in Commander. If your deck is running a lot of Clues, Food, or Treasures, this card is always worth having around. The value it can provide over the course of a game is absolutely obscene, and it even has plenty of combo potential, too.

Thanks to this, even after being reprinted a few times at this point, Academy Manufactor is still rather expensive. Selling for around $6 on average, this is already a pretty compelling MTG bonus card. As if that wasn’t enough, however, the past Secret Lair printing of this card sells for a respectable $14.

Considering this new Academy Manufactor reprint is a bonus card, and is Fallout-themed, it could well sell for even more. That being said, copies of this bonus card are supposedly still in stock. According to Reddit, each bonus card revealed so far has a fixed source, with Academy Manufactor appearing in the “Amazon Show” drop, aka: Beyond Vault 33.

If this is the case, then the Beyond Vault 33 drop just got a whole lot more exciting. The drop’s actual cards might not be that amazing in Commander, but having an extra $6 – $14 of value stapled on top is an amazing deal.

Command Tower

Command Tower Bonus Card

There’s a very good chance that Command Tower is one of the most prolific bonus cards in MTG. As a true Commander staple that can go in literally every single deck ever made, it’s no wonder it keeps appearing. Thanks to being available in basically every preconstructed Commander deck, however, this card is far from expensive.

Available for just $0.24 at its cheapest, Command Tower is technically a budget MTG card. That being said, due to how widely played this card is, fancy variants can go for insane premiums. At their best, some pritings of Commander Tower can sell for upwards of $50, but there’s a huge range in prices.

With the recent Sonic The Hedgehog Command Tower bonus card selling for just $1.45, this card is hardly a guaranteed hit. This makes it very difficult to tell where this new Fallout-themed bonus card will end up. Given the artwork, this could potentially be one of the pricier printings; however, it is still available. According to Reddit, this bonus card can be found in the Greet the Dog Secret Lair, which hasn’t sold out yet.

Big Score

Big Score Bonus Card

In somewhat of a running trend, Big Score is a very cheap MTG card with a good deal of potential. Thanks to repeated reprints, this instant commonly sells for around $1, but Secret Lair variants can sell for $9+. On its own, this means this Big Score reprint could be quite valuable, especially thanks to its added rarity.

Not only is Big Score a bonus card, but it’s reportedly from the only drop that has partially sold out. Supposedly, this bonus card can be found in the Welcome to New Vegas drop, which isn’t available in non-foil anymore. While foil copies are still available, these do have a low stock warning, so they might not last long.

In theory, this added scarcity could amplify the Big Score’s price, especially since it sees healthy Commander play. This, however, will likely depend on how much players love the new cap-themed artwork.

Ruin Crab

Ruin Crab Bonus Card

Selling for around $1.40 on average, Ruin Crab is the most mysterious card of the Fallout-themed bonus card batch. Without a past Secret Lair printing providing comparison, there’s no telling how much this bonus card variant will sell for. If Big Score’s nine-times multiplier is anything to go by, this humble crab could end up being surprisingly pricy.

Reportedly found in the Rad drop, built around The Wise Mothman, Ruin Crab is interestingly a solid upgrade to this Commander. This may end up making this Ruin Crab reprint surprisingly scarce, since it’s very easy to use. Ultimately, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens; however, since we can’t predict the future.
