Wizards of the Coast Teases Potential MTG x Destiny Secret Lair Crossover

Share

While Universes Beyond remains a controversial topic in the community, it is undeniably a massive part of Magic. With half of 2026’s release calendar solely dedicated to crossovers, players now spend as much time in MTG’s lore as they do travelling across pop culture. While many of these crossovers can feel like a miss for players, many have also experienced two of their favorite IPs joining hands. It’s this raw power that allows beloved Universes Beyond crossovers, like Final Fantasy, to put up record sales.

Because of this, when Wizards of the Coast drops hints about future crossovers, the community starts to pay attention. Thanks to a recent post on X, many now expect that an MTG x Destiny Secret Lair crossover could be coming in the future.

MTG x Destiny Secret Lair Crossover?

Responding to a Destiny weekly update, Wizards of the Coast posted an image of four overlaid cards, spelling out a reference to the IP. ‘Eyes Up Guardian’ is an iconic phrase the player constantly hears throughout their Destiny playthrough, and The Moon is a significant in-game location. Like any potential Secret Lair crossover tease, some players are immensely excited. Some even think that the Destiny IP could work as a full draftable set.

That said, while a social post like this from the official MTG account is generally a really strong indicator of a future product, there’s a bit more uncertainty this time around. A Destiny 2 x MTG crossover was announced today, taking place in the game’s upcoming Guardian Games event. A Flamecaller, Mindsculptor, and Death’s Majesty-themed armor set, among other MTG-themed rewards, will be up for grabs. Thanks to this, the MTG post could just be referencing this Destiny 2 crossover. Though considering that the IPs are already collaborating, it would be a shock if we didn’t see a Destiny Secret Lair in the future.

While the cards in the MTG socials post are likely just for reference, some players are already beginning to speculate that these are the cards that will be reprinted in a potential Destiny Secret Lair. Guardian Project is by far the best reprint among these, demanding a $13 price tag thanks to its Commander popularity. That said, considering that Eyes Everywhere, Upheaval, and Imprisoned in the Moon don’t even amount to a dollar combined, this would be a pretty poor Secret Lair value-wise.

Regardless of how it comes to fruition, MTG and Destiny fans already have some fun cosmetics to chase on the shooter game’s side of things. While nothing has been officially confirmed for MTG yet, with how rampant Universes Beyond has become, Destiny certainly seems like fair game.
