MTG Head Designer Seemingly Confirms Four More Years of Marvel Sets

As the next MTG set being released in 2026, the hype train for Marvel Super Heroes is steadily picking up steam. This hype is in large part thanks to the fairly recent reveal of a new wave of spoilers during MagicCon: Las Vegas. Out of these spoilers, The Mind Stone was undoubtedly the big draw; however, it did leave MTG players asking some questions.

While we obviously knew one Infinity Stone was appearing in Marvel Super Heroes, in theory, more could be in the set. Now, thanks to a new statement from Head MTG Designer, Mark Rosewater, we have an answer to this burning question. For those who don’t love all things Marvel, however, this might not be good news.

Four More Years of Marvel?

There is only one Infinity Stone in the set.

Today, Mark Rosewater outright confirmed that The Mind Stone is the only Infinity Stone in MTG Super Heroes. This follows the trend set by MTG Spider Man, which also only contained one: The Soul Stone. Given this, the new reveal isn’t entirely surprising; however, it does seem to confirm four more sets.

Since there are six Infinity Stones in total, Soul, Mind, Space, Power, and Time, we could theoretically get four more Marvel sets to complete the cycle. If the trend of one Marvel set per year continues, this means we’ll be getting Infinity Stones until 2030. Realistically, while this might sound harrowing to some, there’s no guarantee it’ll play out this way.

For starters, Wizards could easily release two or more Infinity Stones in a single set if needed. In theory, Wizards could even release two Marvel sets in a year if they wanted to; however, this does feel less likely. Conversely, Wizards could stagger Marvel releases further apart in the future, leaving us waiting for longer.

Ultimately, it’s highly likely we’ll be waiting a long time for more answers. Without a clarifying announcement, it’ll take at least one more set with one Infinity Stone to safely establish the trend. As it stands, however, four more years of Marvel in MTG does seem like a safe bet, especially given the recent MTG Arena development

If we are to get four more Marvel releases in MTG’s future, the question becomes what sets are we getting? Once again, technically, there are no concrete answers here; however, there is at least one very obvious possibility. While we are getting cards like Quicksilver, Brash Blur in Marvel Super Heroes, it isn’t a dedicated X-Men set.

At this point, it feels like it’s an open secret that we’re getting an X-Men set at some point in the future. Beyond that, however, a lot of the iconic groups in Marvel might struggle to fill an entire set, which is a bit concerning. Technically, the Marvel Multiverse means there’s no end of content, as Spider Man demonstrated, but that set was hardly beloved.

Ultimately, while we could make endless predictions about the future sets we might see, we’d only be guessing. As such, we’ll just have to wait and see what the future brings. Sadly, we’ll likely have to wait a long time for answers, as 2027 sets won’t be announced until much later this year.
