MTG Inhuman Legend Creates Boatload of Infinite Damage Combos

Share

Thanks to the sheer volume of interesting legends available in Marvel Super Heroes, this set has received a ton of Commander hype. From dominant Villains to token-spewing Squirrels, there’s a Commander for everyone regardless of playstyle preference.

One particularly powerful Commander that deserves more recognition is none other than Crystal, Inhuman Princess. With the right support, it isn’t hard to draw huge portions of your deck at once or even set up lethal combos.

MTG Crystal, Inhuman Princess

Between acting as a win condition, ramp, and a mana fixer, Crystal, Inhuman Princess offers an incredibly consistent gameplan. With any noncreature spell triggering Crystal, this Commander makes for an extremely potent Spellslinger general.

Because of this, Crystal is interested in making your cantrips casts do as much work as possible. Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might and Artist’s Talent can help, amplifying the damage that Crystal deals. Copying your Commander with Quantum Misalignment, or its abilities with Roaming Throne, essentially does the same thing.

While Crystal can do a lot, it struggles a bit with card draw once you run out of cantrips. Fortunately, cards like Curiosity and Keen Sense can flip this on its head, turning each noncreature spell into three fresh cards. You can even use Jeskai Ascendancy or Storm-Kiln Artist to generate tons of mana off small casts, chaining tons of spells together.

Array of Infinite Damage Combos

In addition to Crystal’s Storming potential, this Commander also enables some simpler combo kills. Doubling as both a mana dork and a damage dealer, Crystal combines nicely with Banishing Knack and Sewer-veillance Cam, for example.

With your Commander and Cam in play, all you need to do is target the Inhuman legend with Knack and then tap it to bounce Cam. In doing so, you’ll get to untap Crystal, then tap it for mana to recast Cam. When Cam enters, untap Crystal, then tap the Commander to rebounce Cam thanks to Knack’s ability. By repeating this process over and over, your opponents will be dealt infinite damage.

While this is one easy path to victory, it’s hardly the only way to deal infinite damage. Infinitely Blinking Blazing Firesinger with Displacer Kitten, or recasting Dramatic Reversal with Isochron Scepter, will do the trick.

Thanks to Crystal’s range of versatile synergies and combos, it makes for one of the more powerful Marvel Commanders. Its efficiency has even helped it make a splash in cEDH, which is no easy feat. Copies are available for just over $3, so if you’re looking for a fun new Commander to bring to FNM, Crystal is a strong choice.
