A plethora of new legends have been revealed from Mystery Booster Commander Edition, offering a series of bizarre effects. From 200-card decks to cards that ignore color identity, this set offers players a bizarre design space. Of the bunch, however, Ashaya’s Enduring Bond might be the wildest, allowing you to play a literal sorcery in the command zone.
MTG Ashaya’s Enduring Bond
While Ashaya’s Enduring Bond is unlikely to hit something exciting right away, your Command Tax will build up its potential over time. In that sense, this Commander essentially ensures you’ll never run out of gas, so long as you have plenty of mana at your disposal.
With this in mind, your first step to maximizing this legendary sorcery is to ramp a bunch. Efficient legends that provide a mana advantage, like Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, and Radha, Heir to Keld, are especially important, ensuring your Commander is castable on curve. From there, combining cards like Molten-Core Maestro, Storm-Kiln Artist, and Myth Unbound makes it easier to cast your Commander multiple times a turn.
Once you get your engine rolling, Curator of Sun’s Creation and Flamekin Herald reward you further with each Commander cast. Since Discover casts cards from exile, cards like Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald and Nalfeshnee can also do a lot of heavy lifting. Eventually, you can use Wordly Tutor to tuck massive payoffs like Apex Devastator on top of your deck, ensuring you Discover them.
If going tall isn’t your plan, copy effects like Pyromancer’s Goggles allow your Commander to consistently Discover free spells. This can allow you to cast free payoffs like Glimpse of Tomorrow or Wheel of Fate consistently, giving you a massive tempo swing. Of course, you can also just use this to find various fast mana pieces like Mox Amber, casting a bigger Ashaya’s Enduring Bond later.
If you want to dig even deeper, Ashaya’s Enduring Bond does serve as an infinite mana sink. After making infinite Treasures with Fury Storm and Storm-Kiln Artist, for example, you can cast your Commander until you Discover into a win condition like Walking Ballista. Any infinite mana combo can essentially pull this off, making Ashaya’s Enduring Bond the perfect inevitability machine.
