In case you haven’t been religiously following everyone’s favorite mega-corporation, it’s Amazon Prime Day today! Running for 48 hours from the 16th to the 18th of July, this sales event offers deep discounts across Amazon’s product range. Luckily for MTG players, this means some pretty steep discounts on Magic: The Gathering products too!
Unfortunately, while there is a range of MTG deals on Amazon Prime Day, they’re not all created equal. Not only are some of the deals dubious at best for the value connoisseur, but many deals are region-specific.
Despite this regional divide, plenty of great deals are still available right now. While each of these details isn’t guaranteed to last forever, they’re a great way to pick up sealed products for cheaper than usual. So, without any further ado, here are all the best Amazon Prime Day deals for MTG!
Amazon Prime Day US Deals
Given the deals divide, to make things as easy as possible, we’ll be breaking this article down by region. To start off with, let’s take a look at the Amazon Prime Day deals available in the US for MTG players. Sadly, there aren’t a great many of these deals available right now. Not on the Magic: The Gathering storefront at least.
The Brothers’ War Gift Bundle
Out of the eight currently available deals, only three are really worth paying attention to. The best out of this small bunch is the Gift Bundle for The Brothers’ War. Thanks to a 34% discount, this product is selling for just $37 right now. This is a good deal, under the average $55 price, for this product, which can be found on TCGplayer.
Containing eight Set Boosters, one Collector Booster, a Transformers card, and a bunch of other gubbins, this Box offers about $55 of value. This makes it a pretty compelling option if you’re looking to crack some packs for fun, flavor, or value.
Commander Masters Set Booster Box
Somewhat annoyingly, on Amazon.com, the only Booster Box deal on Amazon Prime Day is for Commander Masters. While this set was somewhat lamented upon release, there is some good value to be found inside of packs. This is especially true of Set Boosters, which are a nice middle-ground pack opening experience.
Currently, Amazon is offering a 20% discount on the Commander Masters Set Booster Box. This brings the price down to $329, which is about $40 lower than TCGplayer listings. Not only is this cheaper than other available options, but it’s even lower than the expected value! According to MTGStocks, the EV of a Commander Masters Set Booster Box is $349. This means there’s a good chance you’ll break even when cracking packs!
2023 Arena Starter Kit
While it’s hardly a value goldmine, the 2023 Arena Starter Kit does offer some compelling value. With reprints of Shivan Devastator, Sarkhan, Soul Aflame, and Silverback Elder, this product isn’t a complete dud. At $15, thanks to a 32% discount, it’s definitely not a bad deal.
As interesting as reprints and value are, the real worth of this product comes from playing it. If you want to get into MTG or get someone you know into the game, this is a great product for it. Should you want to do exactly this, being able to pick up this product for cheaper is no bad thing.
The Rest
Sadly, the rest of the MTG deals available in the US on Amazon Prime Day are pretty weak. Both the Enduring Enchantments Commander deck and Aragorn at Helm’s Deep Scene Box aren’t as good as they seem. While 14% and 13% discounts seem alluring, these products are both cheaper on TCGplayer.
In theory, the Land Station is cheaper than what’s available on TCGplayer, but basic lands in bulk still isn’t a great idea. Similarly, while the Starter Commander decks seem like a good deal, and they are decently reduced, they’re not great decks. If you want to get someone you know into MTG with a preconstructed Commander deck, picking one with a theme they’re interested in is usually a better option.
Ultimately, the Amazon Prime Day offerings for MTG players in the US are pretty weak all things considered.
Amazon Prime Day UK Deals
Compared to the US, MTG players in the UK are being very well poorly by Bezos. Currently, the “Featured Deals” section is practically barren of any real deals. Even the products with listed discounts don’t provide much in the way of value to players. A meager 4% discount on some Boosters 3-packs is almost laughable.
Hopefully, as Amazon Prime Day continues, other details will become available to MTG players. Previously, the UK MTG storefront had a great many amazing deals with discounts up to 39%. Since these aren’t available anymore, we can only recommend you watch this storefront to see if anything pops up. We’ll be doing the same, of course, and will update this article with any relevant deals that appear.
