Massive Leak Reveals MTG Secrets of Strixhaven Print Sheet

Share

Even though Lorwyn Eclipsed has yet to hit shelves, we’ve already seen a lot of what the future holds. Both the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Marvel Superheroes sets have already been shown off, long before Lorwyn Eclipsed’s spoiler season started. Now, even before this hugely anticipated set has been released, we’ve got even more future content to gawk at, thanks to a Secrets of Strixhaven leak.

Curiously, unlike most MTG leaks that we see, these latest leaks aren’t especially blurry pictures of fully printed cards. Instead, these leaks show us cards partway through the printing process, with art and text on different printing plates. As if that wasn’t unusual enough, these leaks show off new Commander cards, rather than anything from the main set.

Secrets of Strixhaven Leak

A total of nineteen cards coming in an unannounced Secrets of Strixhaven Commander deck have been leaked online recently. Showcasing many powerful Izzet-colored reprints, this looks like part of the contents for a Prismari Spellslinger Commander precon.

  • Card Name: Prismari Pianist
  • Mana Value: 1RR
  • Type: Creature – Djinn Bard
  • Rarity: Rare
  • Card Text: Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, create a 1/1 blue and red Elemental creature token. If that spell’s mana value is 5 or greater, create three of those tokens instead.
  • Stats: 2/1

While a majority of the cards here are reprints, there appear to be a few mechanically unique cards, and they’re a real doozy. Prismari Pianist is probably the most exciting of the bunch, acting as a Young Pyromancer sidegrade. In exchange for three mana, Prismari Pianist plays better with big spells, creating three tokens if you cast an instant or sorcery with mana value of five or more. Given the multiple massive instants and sorceries in this leak, Prismari Pianist will likely be an army-in-a-can.

  • Card Name: Renegade Bull
  • Mana Value: 4R
  • Type: Creature – Ox
  • Rarity: Rare
  • Card Text: Trample. Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, this creature gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is that spell’s mana value. Whenever this creature attacks, exile up to one target instant or sorcery card from your graveyard and copy it. You may cast that spell without paying its mana cost.
  • Stats: 0/5

Renegade Bull, the other mechanically unique leak, has big potential upside. If you manage to attack with Renegade Bull, you can copy any instant or sorcery in the graveyard, granting the opportunity to cast big spells, like Dragonstorm, for no cost. Sadly, since this Bull doesn’t do anything before attacking, opponents have plenty of time to remove it.

While not very exciting, this leak also confirms that the Izzet Cycling land should be coming in the upcoming Prismari Commander precon. Despite not being a very powerful land, this could easily see play in all kinds of different Izzet-colored manabases as the card becomes more easily attainable.

Mediocre Reprints

In addition to some interesting new cards, there are some impressive reprints coming in this precon. Despite the presence of some powerful spellslinger staples, like Archmage Emeritus, Goldspan Dragon is surprisingly the most expensive reprint here. Retailing at about $9.50 at its cheapest, this Dragon is an incredible source of ramp, easily offering at least a few Treasure Tokens before it gets taken down.

Twinflame is another interesting reprint, and it seems to fit like a glove in this Prismari Commander precon. Outside of a Secret Lair appearance, this copy effect hasn’t been reprinted since Double Masters 2022. The card is worth $8 at the time of writing, but will likely plummet in price once Secrets of Strixhaven hits the scene.

The Fabled Passage reprint here is a particularly noteworthy one. Not only is the $5 Standard superstar seeing another Commander precon reprint, but it appears that the reprint will showcase some fresh, new artwork. Considering that we had three Fabled Passage reprints in 2025 alone, it’s impressive to see that this card still demands a decent price tag.

Sadly, while there are some other powerful reprints coming in this Commander precon, they aren’t all that valuable. Thanks to recent reprints, Brazen Borrower only retails for about $4 despite seeing Legacy play. The rest of the cards found here go for about $2.50 or less, meaning that they’ll be extraordinarily cheap once Secrets of Strixhaven hits shelves. This could make Archmage Emeritus, in particular, an amazing budget pickup for decks that want to cast lots of instants and sorceries.

Don’t Jump the Gun

As exciting as these Secrets of Strixhaven leaks are, there is a chance that, like any unofficial leak, this could be a cleverly concocted ruse. While this has occasionally happened, more often than not, recent MTG leaks have turned out to be the real deal. Considering how much detail is on the print sheet being revealed, this certainly looks like the real deal, as well.

Sadly, with Secrets of Strixhaven’s release confirmed for April 24th of this year, it will be quite some time before we know whether these leaks are real. Fortunately, we’ve still got Lorwyn Eclipsed and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to enjoy in the meantime, keeping MTG players plenty busy.
