MTG Marvel Super Heroes spoiler season is finally here, and there’s a ton to look forward to. A variety of iconic characters and references are being reimagined into the MTG universe, and flavor is through the roof. This extends beyond just the main set and Commander precons, since there’s also a bonus sheet for players to collect. The initial wave of source material spoilers even revealed the first reprint of a pricy artifact-themed payoff.
Simulacrum Synthesizer

Initially printed as part of The Big Score in Outlaws of Thunder Junction, Simulacrum Synthesizer is a powerhouse worthy of a reprint. It isn’t hard to generate Constructs every turn cycle, creating massive beaters that scale with each trigger.
Currently, this three-drop sees most of its play in Commander alongside cards like Mendicant Core, Guidelight. Once you hit Max Speed, this Commander can double the rate at which you pump out Constructs. In two-player formats, Simulacrum Synthesizer also makes a splash in Standard Jeskai Artifacts decks as a powerful option to hit off United Battlefront.
Once you factor in this card’s lack of reprints, it makes sense why it’s maintained a $27 price tag all this time. It’s quite possible this new bonus sheet version ends up being a bit more affordable, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Defense of the Heart

Keeping the trend of amazing reprints going, Defense of the Heart is also making an appearance in the Marvel Super Heroes bonus sheet. The enchantment’s condition is rather easy to fulfill in multiplayer, putting three massive creatures into play from nowhere.
Thanks to this, the card sees plenty of play in decks like The Ur-Dragon and Pantlaza, Sun-Favored that employ big creatures naturally. You can also tutor potential infinite combos into play, using cards like Viscera Seer and Protean Hulk. With the card seeing play in over 100,000 decks according to EDHREC, it isn’t too surprising that it’s worth almost $22 in its cheapest form.
Show and Tell

Alongside Defense of the Heart, Show and Tell adds another creature-cheating tool to the Marvel Super Heroes Bonus Sheet. This sorcery is a key component of Legacy and Timeless Sneak and Show decks, which are both still elite choices in their respective formats. Despite Show and Tell’s symmetrical effect, when you’re reliably putting in Omniscience-level haymakers, you usually get the better end of the deal.
Unfortunately, the same isn’t always true in a Commander setting where your opponents are also looking to do big things. As such, Show and Tell is more of a niche tool in the format for Commanders like Braids, Conjurer Adept. This lack of Commander demand, combined with Show and Tell’s recent Mystery Booster 2 reprinting, has kept this sorcery’s reprint value to just over $8.
Fight to the Death

One of the most intriguing and devastating effects from Alara Reborn, Fight to the Death is also finally getting reprinted. In order to maximize this instant in Commander, you ideally need one of your opponents to attack another opponent and have them block with a bunch of creatures. While Goad effects can do some heavy lifting, Grand Melee is the perfect card to set this up. All you need is just one attack to completely devastate two opponents.
Even with these dream scenarios in mind, the potential fail cases with this card have kept it from emerging as a Commander staple. Still, as a 17-year-old rare with no reprints to speak of until now, Fight to the Death is worth over $6.
More to Come
Given that this is just the start of the Marvel Super Heroes spoiler season, there could still be more bonus sheet heavy hitters yet to come. According to Wizards, the remaining source material cards are scheduled to be previewed on June 5th, so we have to wait in anticipation for now. Make sure to mark your calendars and keep your eyes peeled for any top tier reveals.
