Lorwyn Eclipsed Keyring Leaks Notorious MTG Planeswalker's Return

Are these... Elk tracks?!

Online retailers have a lot to answer for when it comes to recent Magic: The Gathering leaks. Over the last few months, stores have leaked new products and even revealed sets via rogue listings. This week, it was the turn of Lorwyn Eclipsed to get spoiled prematurely. An early image of a promotional keyring for the set dropped yesterday and was quickly picked up on social media. If this MTG image is legitimate, it could well confirm the return of the infamous Oko in Lorwyn Eclipsed.

Oko Is Back In MTG With Lorwyn Eclipsed?

Oko Lorwyn Eclipsed MTG Keyring Leak

Right off the bat, there isn’t an awful lot to go on with this leak. The image above, seemingly taken from the Kliggs website, is all there is, and the only sources for it at present are reuploads on social media. This immediately throws its legitimacy into question; however, the art style used does perfectly match Kliggs’ other MTG products. Due to this, it’s either a very high effort fake or simply a real product that was unearthed early.

As for the leak itself, it’s a spicy one. The keyring clearly features Oko, one of the most notorious planeswalkers in Magic history. His first card, Oko, Thief of Crowns, is widely considered one of Magic’s biggest-ever design mistakes. As a result, MTG players are understandably concerned about the possibility of a new Oko in Lorwyn Eclipsed.

While worries around a new Oko make sense, it is worth noting that we’ve seen reasonable renditions of him before. Oko, the Trickster from Throne of Eldraine was a clunky planeswalker deck version, while Oko, the Ringleader from Thunder Junction was an interesting design that didn’t cause any issues. It’s clear Wizards isn’t determined to make every Oko card broken, so a new one isn’t necessarily cause for concern.

Notably, Oko may not actually get a new card in the set at all. Wizards often commission accessories for characters who simply appear in the story for sets as well. However it pans out, it’s great to see Oko in Magic again. Even if he gets a busted new card, he won’t be wearing a cowboy hat this time, at least.
