Legendary artist Seb McKinnon launches a new Kickstarter campaign!
Magic: The Gathering artist Seb McKinnon has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for his debut feature fantasy film titled Kin Fables: The Stolen Child, and in exchange for the donations, he is offering limited-edition playmats and prints featuring his astonishing MTG artworks.
According to the Kickstarter’s description, this will be a one-time printing only, and the amount of signed playmats produced will depend on demand. 100% of funds for the campaign go towards funding his film (after shipping and playmat/print production costs). To avoid cropping of any kind, McKinnon painted expansions to each artwork, so the art on the playmat reaches towards the edges.
The playmats feature the stunning art from McKinnon’s Secret Lair Damnation, Enchanted Evening, Sower of Temptation, and Swamp, as well as art for Promise of Tomorrow, Feast of Succession, and Force of Despair.
At the time of this writing, $552,528 from 5,276 backers have been raised with still 44 days to go before the Kickstarter campaign ends.
If you’re not familiar with McKinnon’s art, here’s a video essay from Rhystic Studies:
