Article at a Glance

We’re only 2 days out from the start of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty preview season. A couple days ago, Mark Rosewater dropped his teaser article for the set, and today we have a leaked card that could be one of the cards on his list! Let’s take a look at it, because it’s a really cool one!

DISCLAIMER: THIS CARD HASN’T BEEN PREVIEWED BY WIZARDS OF THE COAST, AND MAY NOT BE REAL

Tatsunari, Toad Rider

The card we have is Tatsunari, Toad Rider. One of MaRo’s teaser hints was a “creatures that makes a legendary Frog creature token”. If we look at Tatsunari, this could be that card. Tatsunari costs 2B for a 3/3 Human Ninja. Tatsunari’s abilities are, whenever we cast an enchantment spell, if we don’t control a creature named Keimi, we create Keimi. Keimi is a 3/3 Legendary black and green Frog Creatures token, and has the ability: “whenever you cast an enchantment spell, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life”.

Tatsunari also has a second ability for 1G/U, Tatsunari and a frog we control can’t be blocked except by creatures with Flying or Reach.

Tatsunari’s Commander Uses

Tatsunari is a really interesting card. A Sultai commander that deals with enchantments is a new one for the game and one that has a lot of potential. Just a few cards that you could leverage with Tatsunari include Blood Funnel, Grave Pact, and Sangine Bond. With Blood Funnel, you can sacrifice your Keimi to pay for it’s additional cost, and get another one from Tatsunari. Combo this with Grave Pact for a mass edict effect. Additionally, you can use Sanguine Bond to drain life from your opponents over the course of the game.
