Just the other day, we got the full reveal of the cards that are going to be in the long awaited Stranger Things Secret Lair. But one thing that really isn’t thought about when we talk about Secret Lairs is the “extra secret card” that you come with each drop. In past drops we’ve seen the various cards like the Stained Glass Planeswalkers from War of the Spark.
Well today, we now know thanks a post over on Chinese site Weibo! May I introduce you to Hawkins Lab!
Yup! Hawkins Lab is getting it’s own card, and it’s a utility transforming dual faced land. This land has an investigate theme, as the rest of the drop does, but it also generates mana which is nice. On it’s flip side, this is a powerful reanimation spell that also makes black mana. I think that this is a very strong card for any Commander deck that plays black.
Generally in black, you have the combination of Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Cabal Coffers to generate a ton of mana, which can be used to investigate off this card. This slots really well into Eloise, Nephalia Sleuth, or Will the Wise.

I expect that this card is going to be a really expensive card from the drop so it might be worth considering picking up this drop, if not for the rest of the drop. You can order this Secret Lair and all the others from the October drop from the website.
