Drizzt Do’Urden original art by Tyler Jacobson makes Magic: The Gathering art history!

Tyler Jacobson’s original Drizzt Do’Urden art from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering crossover set, Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms makes history today after it was sold in an auction for $155,000.

Drizzt Do’Urden by Tyler Jacobson is a 24 x 30 work done in oils on cradled masonite, and the auction was launched on Thursday, May 20, 2021 by Mark Aronowitz on the MTG Art Market group, with a starting bid of $10,000, with $100 minimum bid increases. The original art features Drizzt, the iconic Dungeons & Dragons drow elf hero and his feline companion, Guenhwyvar. It was commissioned for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms set by Wizards of the Coast with art director Zack Stella. The art was sold with a final bid of $155,000 to a private collector, the largest amount ever for an MTG or D&D artwork.
