As we count down the days to the Preview Season for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, there’s a lot of hype around the set. There’s cards getting leaked like crazy, and Wizards is also releasing a bunch of cool art and stories that hint towards cards that are upcoming in the set. Well one of those cool things is an Altered Reality experience, and one of the cards from the set was datamined. Let’s take a look at this card as it’s a great control card.
DISCLAIMER: This card, while datamined from an official WotC source, has not been confirmed by previews yet.
So long, Farewell!
So the card that we’re going to look at is called Farewell. Its’ a 6 mana Sorcery that gives you some choices. You can choose any number of the following:
- Exile all Artifacts
- Exile all Creatures
- Exile all Enchantments
- Exile all Graveyards
—
We don’t have any art that got picked up, but this is a very cool mono white card. This card feels almost like a hybrid between Merciless Eviction and Austere Command.
Where Is This Card Good?
My first instincts for this card is going to be in the Control Mirror. Azorius or Esper Control may look to utilize the graveyard option when fighting opposing Lier, Disciple of the Drowned. There’s definitely times where your graveyard isn’t quite as stacked as your opponent’s so being able to have the flexibility to deal with the graveyard, but also any other problematic permanent types is great.
This is also great against decks that happen to have a lot of graveyard creature recursion, and sacrifice options. We don’t have any ways to get back exiled cards right now, so a mass permanent removal option is great.
This will also most likely be a great option for commander players. Mass removal in a multiplayer format is always welcome, and when you can have a near full blown reset button on the game, decks that can play this will want to pick this one up.
