The Best Spacecraft In MTG

Share
Sweet rides for your next interstellar adventure!

Making its debut in 2025’s Edge of Eternities, Spacecraft is one of the newer card types in Magic’s storied history. It’s also one of the more unique, merging the Vehicle and Level Up mechanics into a spicy, counter-stacking extravaganza. While this new type hasn’t had long to prove its mettle just yet, it has managed to do so regardless with some of its cards. These are those cards: our picks for the best Spacecraft in MTG.

8 | Infinite Guideline Station

Infinite Guideline Station

‘Five-color Commander with set mechanic’ has become a bit of an MTG staple at this point, and Infinite Guideline Station fills that role for Spacecraft. In a multicolor-focused deck, this can make you a sizable Robot army on entry, especially with trigger doublers like Panharmonicon Panharmonicon Panharmonicon If an artifact or creature entering causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, that ability triggers an additional time. in the mix. This army can then, in turn, Station the Spacecraft itself, unlocking access to that sweet draw ability.

These abilities alone can let you play a solid Midrange game with Infinite Guideline Station, but it also has plenty of combo potential to boot. By blinking it with a repeatable engine like Abuelo, Ancestral Echo Abuelo, Ancestral Echo Abuelo, Ancestral Echo Flying, ward {2}
{1}{W}{U}: Exile another target creature or artifact you control. Return it to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step.
, you can make infinite mana with Phyrexian Altar Phyrexian Altar Phyrexian Altar Sacrifice a creature: Add one mana of any color. , or take infinite turns with Time Sieve Time Sieve Time Sieve {T}, Sacrifice five artifacts: Take an extra turn after this one. . While these combos require a critical mass of multicolored permanents, this deck wants to be running those anyway.

Overall, Infinite Guideline Station is a very solid five-color Commander, and a surprisingly nuanced one with plenty of build potential. Though it’s essentially confined to the command zone due to its color identity, it still earns its place among the best Spacecraft in MTG.

7 | The Seriema

The Seriema

While it seems restrictive initially, The Seriema is actually a pretty stellar tutor effect on a Spacecraft. Legendary creatures are incredibly common in the age of Universes Beyond, meaning this can grab you everything from removal with Loran of the Third Path Loran of the Third Path Loran of the Third Path Vigilance
When Loran enters, destroy up to one target artifact or enchantment.
{T}: You and target opponent each draw a card.
to draw engines with The Queen of Dale The Queen of Dale The Queen of Dale Whenever an opponent casts their first noncreature spell each turn, you recruit. (Draw a card, then discard a card. If you discarded a nonland card, create a 1/1 white Human Soldier creature token.) .

By itself, this would be good enough for some decks, but the Station option gives the card an extra edge. Protecting your other legends is fantastic for Legends-Matter decks like Jodah, the Unifier Jodah, the Unifier Jodah, the Unifier Legendary creatures you control get +X/+X, where X is the number of legendary creatures you control.
Whenever you cast a legendary spell from your hand, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a legendary nonland card with lesser mana value. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
, and works particularly well with instant-speed tap outlets like Vehicles to protect your board.

Though The Seriema does its best work in the 99 of Commander decks, it’s also notable for being a great ‘Secret Commander’ option. You can run it in the command zone to disguise your true Commander from opponents, or to effectively run a colorless Commander like Ultron, Artificial Malevolence Ultron, Artificial Malevolence Ultron, Artificial Malevolence Whenever another nontoken artifact you control enters, you may pay {2}. If you do, create a token that's a copy of it. If the token isn't a creature, it becomes a 2/2 Robot Villain creature in addition to its other types. with access to white. While it’s not a powerhouse, The Seriema is incredibly flexible, which gives it a lot of play in Commander.

6 | Uthros Research Craft

Uthros Research Craft

Uthros Research Craft earns its spot on this list with that first Station ability alone. Turning every artifact, from Mishra’s Bauble Mishra’s Bauble Mishra’s Bauble {T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Look at the top card of target player's library. Draw a card at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep. to Simulacrum Syntheisizer, into a cantrip is a huge deal. The fact that Research Craft is an artifact itself makes it easy to tutor up with Repurposing Bay Repurposing Bay Repurposing Bay {2}, {T}, Sacrifice another artifact: Search your library for an artifact card with mana value equal to 1 plus the sacrificed artifact's mana value, put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle. Activate only as a sorcery. to get your engines going.

Thanks to this raw draw power, Uthros Research Craft has become something of a staple in Commander, showing up in around 88,300 lists according to EDHREC. While it only really appears in Artifact decks like Mendicant Core, Guidelight Mendicant Core, Guidelight Mendicant Core, Guidelight Mendicant Core's power is equal to the number of artifacts you control.
Start your engines! (If you have no speed, it starts at 1. It increases once on each of your turns when an opponent loses life. Max speed is 4.)
Max speed — Whenever you cast an artifact spell, you may pay {1}. If you do, copy it. (The copy becomes a token.)
, it has solidified itself as one of the premier draw engines available to the archetype. Add in potential as a finisher in decks that go wide with Treasures and the like, and this is one of the best MTG Spacecraft so far.

5 | The Eternity Elevator

The Eternity Elevator

The Eternity Elevator’s Station ability dangles the carrot of massive mana generation, but the card is great even before Stationing it. While more expensive than other options like Thran Dynamo Thran Dynamo Thran Dynamo {T}: Add {C}{C}{C}. , the upside of gaining a free way to tap your creatures is significant. This makes it excellent in decks like Kilo, Apogee Mind Kilo, Apogee Mind Kilo, Apogee Mind Haste
Whenever Kilo becomes tapped, proliferate. (Choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)
and Kona, Rescue Beastie[/toooltips], in addition to colorless lists like Zhulodok, Void Gorger.

Thanks to its ability to generate three mana, The Eternity Elevator also enables a range of infinite mana combos. By animating it with Karn, the Great Creator Karn, the Great Creator Karn, the Great Creator Activated abilities of artifacts your opponents control can't be activated.
+1: Until your next turn, up to one target noncreature artifact becomes an artifact creature with power and toughness each equal to its mana value.
−2: You may reveal an artifact card you own from outside the game or choose a face-up artifact card you own in exile. Put that card into your hand.
, for instance, you can then untap it repeatedly with Voltaic Construct Voltaic Construct Voltaic Construct {2}: Untap target artifact creature. to net one mana each time. If you can stack up 20 charge counters on it, more lines with cards like Filigree Sages Filigree Sages Filigree Sages {2}{U}: Untap target artifact. open up as well.

Because of these upsides, The Eternity Elevator has found its way into over 95,300 Commander decks so far. That’s not bad at all for what, on the surface, appears to be a fairly clunky colorless mana rock.

4 | Inspirit, Flagship Vessel

Best Spacecraft MTG Inspirit Flagship Vessel

In general, Spacecraft tend to require a chunky investment before they get going. Inspirit bucks that trend, however, costing only three mana and requiring just a single charge counter before it gets going. This makes Inspirit ideal for leading a Spacecraft Commander deck, or for placing +1/+1 counters on creatures that scale well, like Esper Sentinel Esper Sentinel Esper Sentinel Whenever an opponent casts their first noncreature spell each turn, draw a card unless that player pays {X}, where X is this creature's power. .

When it’s not turning on your Spacecraft early, Inspirit can also let you take infinite turns when paired with Magistrate’s Scepter Magistrate’s Scepter Magistrate’s Scepter {4}, {T}: Put a charge counter on this artifact.
{T}, Remove three charge counters from this artifact: Take an extra turn after this one.
and cards like Coretapper Coretapper Coretapper {T}: Put a charge counter on target artifact.
Sacrifice this creature: Put two charge counters on target artifact.
. Factor in the very solid and achievable protection effect later on, and it’s no surprise that this Spacecraft is a very popular Commander. In fact, 13,232 players in total are running this banger in the command zone right now, which is wild for a legend that’s barely a year old.

3 | Extinguisher Battleship

Best Spacecraft MTG Extinguisher Battleship

For the most part, Spacecraft only really see play in Commander, but Extinguisher Battleship is the exception to that rule. This card has made a name for itself in both Modern and Legacy, as a sideboard piece in the various Tron decks in both formats. Eight colorless is a small price to pay for such lists, and clearing the board while also dealing with tricky threats like Gaea’s Cradle Gaea’s Cradle Gaea’s Cradle {T}: Add {G} for each creature you control. is a massive deal.

That’s not to say that Extinguisher Battleship isn’t great in Commander too, however, as it certainly has a presence there. Between Artifact decks like Tannuk, Steadfast Second Tannuk, Steadfast Second Tannuk, Steadfast Second Other creatures you control have haste.
Artifact cards and red creature cards in your hand have warp {2}{R}. (You may cast a card from your hand for its warp cost. Exile that permanent at the beginning of the next end step, then you may cast it from exile on a later turn.)
and big mana decks like Dionus, Elvish Archdruid Dionus, Elvish Archdruid Dionus, Elvish Archdruid Elves you control have "Whenever this creature becomes tapped during your turn, untap it and put a +1/+1 counter on it. This ability triggers only once each turn." , the card sees plenty of use. Though it’s expensive, getting to add removal to your board wipe in Commander is a great deal, as evidenced by the 38,100 players running it in their decks.

2 | Exploration Broodship

Best Spacecraft MTG Exploration Broodship

Exploration Exploration Exploration You may play an additional land on each of your turns. is a bona fide MTG classic, serving as early ramp and a crucial engine piece for Lands-Matter decks in Commander. While it’s a little slower out the gate, Exploration Broodship is perhaps the closest thing to this $30 banger we’ve ever seen since. It’s trivial for most decks to get three charge counters on this, at which point it’s just Exploration with upside, making it an incredible add for Commanders like Glarb, Calamity’s Augur Glarb, Calamity’s Augur Glarb, Calamity’s Augur Deathtouch
You may look at the top card of your library any time.
You may play lands and cast spells with mana value 4 or greater from the top of your library.
{T}: Surveil 2.
.

Similar to Exploration, this card enables some sneaky tricks, like looping Glacial Chasm Glacial Chasm Glacial Chasm Cumulative upkeep—Pay 2 life. (At the beginning of your upkeep, put an age counter on this permanent, then sacrifice it unless you pay its upkeep cost for each age counter on it.)
When this land enters, sacrifice a land.
Creatures you control can't attack.
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you.
with the help of a card like Mole Man, Moloid Master Mole Man, Moloid Master Mole Man, Moloid Master You may play lands from your graveyard.
Landfall — Whenever a land you control enters, create a 1/1 green Minion creature token named Moloid with "Whenever this token attacks, you may mill a card."
. Cards like these work particularly well with Broodship’s second ability, which essentially becomes a better Conduit of Worlds Conduit of Worlds Conduit of Worlds You may play lands from your graveyard.
{T}: Choose target nonland permanent card in your graveyard. If you haven't cast a spell this turn, you may cast that card. If you do, you can't cast additional spells this turn. Activate only as a sorcery.
once you can offset the land loss.

Unsurprisingly, given the popularity of its inspiration, Exploration Broodship is the most widely-played Spacecraft card to date. Around 98,500 decks, ranging from Toph, the First Metalbender Toph, the First Metalbender Toph, the First Metalbender Nontoken artifacts you control are lands in addition to their other types. (They don't gain the ability to {T} for mana.)
At the beginning of your end step, earthbend 2. (Target land you control becomes a 0/0 creature with haste that's still a land. Put two +1/+1 counters on it. When it dies or is exiled, return it to the battlefield tapped.)
to Korvold, Fae-Cursed King Korvold, Fae-Cursed King Korvold, Fae-Cursed King Flying
Whenever Korvold enters or attacks, sacrifice another permanent.
Whenever you sacrifice a permanent, put a +1/+1 counter on Korvold and draw a card.
, have found a slot for this modern classic. With such formidable stats behind it, it’s hard to deny the pedigree that Exploration Broodship brings to the MTG table.

1 | Hearthhull, The Worldseed

Best Spacecraft MTG Hearthhull the Worldseed

With just a couple of charge counters stacked up, Hearthhull becomes one of the scariest Lands-Matter Commanders Magic has ever seen. Trading lands for draw is a great deal, especially at this rate, and the extra land drop means you’ll generally replace those you sacrifice immediately. Failing that, land staples like Crucible of Worlds Crucible of Worlds Crucible of Worlds You may play lands from your graveyard. and Icetill Explorer Icetill Explorer Icetill Explorer You may play an additional land on each of your turns.
You may play lands from your graveyard.
Landfall — Whenever a land you control enters, mill a card.
will let you replay them to offset the cost.

This ability alone would make Hearthhull a formidable Commander, but it also comes with a finisher built in if you can hit eight charge counters. You’ll naturally rack up a lot of burn damage as you churn through lands with the first ability, and you can bring in damage doublers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus Solphim, Mayhem Dominus Solphim, Mayhem Dominus If a source you control would deal noncombat damage to an opponent or a permanent an opponent controls, it deals double that damage to that player or permanent instead.
{1}{R/P}{R/P}, Discard two cards: Put an indestructible counter on Solphim. ({R/P} can be paid with either {R} or 2 life.)
to speed that up. With free land sacrifice outlets like Zuran Orb Zuran Orb Zuran Orb Sacrifice a land: You gain 2 life. and Need for Speed Need for Speed Need for Speed Sacrifice a land: Target creature gains haste until end of turn. , this can wipe out the whole pod in one turn.

Thanks to this potent combination of abilities, Hearthhull has quickly become one of the most popular Commanders in the entire format. Right now, a whopping 30,647 players run it in that role, making it the 23rd most popular Commander overall. With lands getting more and more support with every set, this status seems unlikely to change any time soon, cementing Hearthhull’s status as the best Spacecraft in MTG.
