Common Assassin’s Creed MTG Spell Spikes 377%

Much like March of the Machine: The Aftermath, the Assassin’s Creed MTG set was a weird one. Despite being a Universes Beyond crossover, this set came and went without much fanfare. Considering the set was Modern legal, this is quite a surprise, however, it was a tough act following up Modern Horizons 3.

While the Assassin’s Creed MTG set may not have warped the Modern meta, it still had some great cards. Rather than being constructed playable, these cards found their homes in Commander. If you’re a fan of Assassins, Pirates, or Equipment, this was definitely the set for you.

As the title gives away, the latest MTG price spike is Battlefield Improvisation which supports the set’s Equipment theme. Since the start of September, this card has seen a huge spike in price, jumping 377%! As if this wasn’t impressive enough, this price spike appears to have come out of nowhere!

Battlefield Improvisation

Battlefield Improvisation

Battlefield Improvisation is a Voltron deck’s best friend. Given the number of equipment these decks tend to play, moving it all about can be very expensive. This often leaves you with one massive threat and few other options. Thankfully, Battlefield Improvisation fixes that problem by allowing you to move all your equipment around.

More than just moving equipment around for a vastly reduced cost, Battlefield Improvisation can do it at instant speed. Should that not be enough for some reason, it also provides an extra +2/+2 buff for added measure. This makes Battlefield Improvisation an incredibly versatile tool in any equipment-focused deck.

Whether you’re saving a creature with an equipment-enhanced combat trick or Voltron-ing your way to victory, Battlefield Improvisation is fantastic. With this in mind, it’s no wonder that people are snapping up copies of it to play with. Equipment is a hugely popular theme in Commander so there should be a great deal of demand for this card.

Despite this, it seems people are only cottoning on to this card’s power now.

Decidedly Delayed Action

While the Assassin’s Creed MTG set has been available since July 5th, Battlefield Improvisation has only started to spike now. This is rather confusing considering that Duskmourn: House of Horror, has very little to do with equipment. So far, in fact, only three equipment cards have been revealed.

Since the new equipment cards in Dusmourn aren’t the strongest, we can rule this out as the spike’s cause. Instead, the likely reason behind this spike is simply a lack of supply compared to the demand for equipment decks. As usual, when MTG players cotton onto this discrepancy, the price tends to shoot up fast.

Since the start of September, we have seen exactly that. Prices for Battlefield Improvisation at the start of this month were as low as $0,68. Now, recent sales have pushed as high as $3.25. Currently, listings for Battlefield Improvisation start at $3.55, so there’s a non-zero chance this spike isn’t over yet.

Notably, while the price of Battlefield Improvisation is high now, there’s a strong chance it won’t last. Inventory Management, from the Fallout Commander decks, boasts a similar, arguably more powerful ability yet is nowhere near as expensive. While there are more variants of Inventory Management, increasing the supply, the cost of Battlefield Improvisation does seem ludicrously high right now.
