Magic: The Gathering is an expensive game, there’s no doubt about that. Even Standard decks can cost over $100 at a baseline, and much, much more for the real meta players. Whenever an opportunity to circumvent that high cost comes along, then, it’s worth grabbing with both hands. Today, one such opportunity has arrived. Alienware is holding an MTG Arena giveaway, offering both a Standard Dinosaur deck and some exclusive sleeves for free.
Digital Dinosaurs
The free deck is, naturally, the star of the show here. Interestingly, this isn’t a brand-new deck. Rather, it’s the ‘Foundation Deck: Standard Dinosaurs’ list that’s available in the MTG Arena store. This deck costs 9,190 Gems in the store, which is pretty much exactly $50. Getting the whole thing for free, then, is an excellent deal.
You can view the full decklist for this deck here. It’s a fairly straightforward aggressive Gruul Dinosaurs list, with early ramp, removal, and a solid curve. You’ll start off with Ixalli’s Lorekeeper, then curve into the likes of Pugnacious Hammerskull or Rampaging Raptor. It’s not a meta-topping list by any means but it’s a perfectly functional deck, especially for a new player.
It’s also worth noting that you get a good number of rares in the deck, 18 in total. Full playsets of Pugnacious Hammerskull, Rampaging Raptor, and Palani’s Hatcher are great to see. Even better are the rare lands the deck features. Three copies of Copperline Gorge, one Karplusan Forest, and two Restless Ridgeline are all fantastic additions.
Dual lands are always great to have on hand, so these will give you options when building other decks in the future. It’s worth mentioning that, according to accounts given on the r/MagicTCG subreddit, rares you already own from the deck will be swapped for random ones you don’t when you redeem it. This gives the deck value even if you already have a packed collection.
While the free sleeves on offer in this Alienware MTG Arena giveaway are far less exciting, they’re still worth mentioning. They feature artwork of Teysa Karlov from Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts. Not a great fit for a Gruul Dinosaurs deck, but nice to see all the same.
Road To Redemption
So the freebies you can get from this Alienware MTG Arena giveaway are great. But how exactly can you claim them? This is a process with a few steps, but thankfully all of them are very simple to follow.
First of all, you’ll need to create an account with Alienware Arena. This is completely free to do, so don’t worry about any obligations for signing up. Once you’ve set that up, you’ll need to make your way to the MTG giveaway pages. Both the Dinosaur deck and the Teysa sleeves have their own pages. On each page, you’ll need to click ‘Get Key’,’ and then copy the code that appears on your screen.
It’s important to note that there are limited numbers of keys available for both of these giveaways. At the time of writing, there are 2,657 keys left for the Dinosaur deck, and 6,289 left for the Teysa sleeves. The discussion on Reddit suggests that these numbers are region-dependent, however, so what you find may be different. In any case, you’ll want to grab a key as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
Once you have your key, simply boot up MTG Arena and head to the store tab. Paste the code into the redemption box, hit redeem, and your deck/sleeves should be granted forthwith.
That’s all there is to it! If you play MTG Arena in any capacity, it’s well worth creating an Alienware Arena account just to grab these rewards. There may well be more MTG giveaways in the future, too, so having an account in place puts you in a great position if that turns out to be the case.
