With MTG Marvel Darkhold Destiny officially revealed, details about the set are starting to pour in. Today, we went from knowing absolutely nothing about the set to having a handful of spoilers in just a few hours.
Now that the set’s products have been revealed, a few more exciting details have surfaced. The biggest is a collection of four new Commander precons featuring characters players have long wanted to build around.
MTG Marvel Darkhold Destiny Commander Precons

While we don’t know much about the new MTG Marvel Darkhold Destiny Commander precons, there’s plenty of information about these decks for their day-one debut, thanks to a handy Reddit post. Of course, this info could be fake, but it seems unlikely.
A particularly exciting note is how many new Commander cards these precons will bring to Magic: The Gathering. With 30 new Commander cards in each product, we could be getting as many as 120 new Commander-legal cards with Marvel Darkhold Destiny! That said, some new cards may overlap between decks, but these precons should still come loaded with new cards. Additionally, as is common for precons like this, each deck will include two foil Commanders.
Of course, we also have some details about each individual Commander deck thanks to the revealed packaging for these products. Speculating from these product descriptions, Lords of Hel is a Rakdos sacrificial token deck that might have a Typal theme, Midnight Sons is Orzhov Vampire Lifegain Typal, Gods of Asgard is a Naya Ferocious deck, and Strange Academy is Esper Sorcerer Blink Typal:
Lords of Hel — BOW BEFORE THE GODDESS OF DEATH—Bring the Ten Realms to heel with Hela and throw undead waves at your enemies with reckless glee; pair powerful sacrifice effects with token generation, and you’ll always have a willing victim
Midnight Sons — SEIZE THE NIGHT—Bare your fangs with Blade and rack up life through Vampires and other monstrous powers; spend your excess life on devastating battlefield effects and be the last survivor standing when the sun comes up
Gods of Asgard — WIELD THE POWER OF THOR—Bring the hammer down with Thor leading your Asgardian armies and build up forces of power 4 or more; hold the greatest power at the table to become truly godlike
Strange Academy — DEMONSTRATE YOUR MASTERY OF THE MYSTIC ARTS—Take the table to school with Doctor Strange and demonstrate the power of portal magic; blink your spellcasters in and out of play to repeatedly score top marks on battlefield entry effects
Alongside four new Commander precons, the rest of the product line for Marvel Darkhold Destiny was also revealed, indirectly confirming a few things. Most notably, the Time Stone’s appearance in Darkhold Destiny has been confirmed as the set’s Headliner card, continuing the pattern of Infinity Stone headliners across Marvel’s MTG crossovers.
Otherwise, alongside all of the usual products like regular boosters, Collector Boosters, Bundles, and Draft Night Kits, two Scene Bundles will also be available for Darkhold Destiny. Considering that there are no Commander Precons with Golgari color identities, the recently spoiled Gargantos, the Endbringer certainly fits into one of these. There’s also an Arcanum Bundle being released for Darkhold Destiny, which feels like a repeat of the premium-style bundles MTG sets have been seeing lately.
With this information out in the wild, MTG Commander players have a lot to look forward to with the April 9th, 2027 release of Darkhold Destiny. With New York Comic Con still far from over, we could see even more soon. For future developments, keep an eye on this space.
