While Magic has many strengths as a card game, its lack of media presence certainly isn’t one of them. Compared to iconic characters like Pikachu and Yugi Muto, even Magic’s most famous characters, like Jace Beleren, aren’t that well known, and the lack of a show is undoubtedly to blame.

Destroy All Humans: They Can’t Be Regenerated: Time Shift
Releasing October 26th, 2026, in Monthly Shonen Ace, Destroy All Humans: They Can’t Be Regenerated Time Shift is a “girl-meets-girl story about the character Yakumo Suwabara, who became a “Magic: The Gathering” pro-player in 2008.” Currently, only four chapters are planned for release, suggesting that this will be a short story.
Given how well-received the original series was in the Magic: The Gathering community, it’s no wonder so many players are excited for its return. Part of that is certainly due to the new series highlighting the 2008 golden era of MTG, during the Lorwyn block era. For many, this is an extremely nostalgic period of MTG, which should make the series even more enjoyable.
Notably, the original Destroy All Humans series featured promotional cards in each volume, many of which still fetch a reasonable price today. While promos are currently unconfirmed for this new series, we’ll likely see some soon.
If there’s any bad news about this release, it’s that Destroy All Humans’ original series took a long time to start appearing in English print. With the original series still releasing in English today, it might be quite some time before North Americans can get their hands on an English print of the Time Shift spinoff.
Sadly, besides the announcement of the new Time Shift expansion itself, there’s very little that’s known about this upcoming series. Hopefully, when the first volume comes to print in October, fans worldwide will be able to experience the story for themselves.
