To say Magic’s 2025 Spider-Man set had its share of problems would be a huge understatement. The set remains one of the most universally-panned MTG products in history, due in large part to it shifting from a small set to a full one mid-development. This issue also left no room for a line of Commander products, which disappointed those who did enjoy the set’s theming. It seems Wizards may be correcting this now, however, as a new leak has revealed a dedicated Spider-Man Commander deck.
A Spider-Man Commander Deck for the Holidays?
The leak in question dropped late last night via X, and seemingly shows a description of the deck that was sent to a game store. It also includes images of the deck box in both the regular and all-Surge-Foil Collector’s Edition variants, which match the style of the Marvel Super Heroes precons from earlier this year. When you factor in the original box art, this is fairly compelling evidence of the leak’s authenticity.
In terms of the deck itself, it’s a Jeskai list titled “Spider-Mania,” which aims to “Cast Spider-Friends” and “Replay Enter Abilities.” The former implies a Spider Hero Typal theme, which is unsurprising, but the latter is a little more interesting. Replaying enter abilities could mean using the Web-slinging mechanic to bounce creatures, or it could mean the deck runs a heavy blink package, or even a selection of

According to the leak, Peter Parker will be the face Commander of this deck, with “Miles and Gwen” serving as the alternate Commander. Since the translation seems a little rough here, it’s unclear whether that means two alternate Commanders or a Miles and Gwen duo card. In any case, we haven’t seen a Jeskai take on Peter or Miles before, so there’s certainly some interesting design space to explore.
The leak also includes some more nitty-gritty details about the Spider-Man Commander deck, noting that it will include 50 pieces of new art in total, spread across 30 new cards and 20 reprints. While this sounds like a lot of new cards, it’s in line with the rest of the Marvel Super Heroes precons, so it’s very much possible. Spider Skepticism
While this new leak is certainly exciting, especially for Spider-Man fans, it’s important to take it with a pinch of salt. The product listing that currently provides most of the information here appears to be roughly translated, which could suggest a lack of authenticity. While the deck box and artwork do look legit, the wording on “Replay Enter Abilities” is a little odd, too, so the whole thing could certainly be an elaborate hoax.
On top of that, it also lists the release date of this precon as December 4th, 2026, just over two months from now. If this is true, then Wizards is playing things unusually close to the chest with this one. The Hobbit’s Battle of Five Armies product, despite releasing next year, was announced at the same time as the rest of the set, to give a point of comparison. Though Wizards could be keeping it as a fun surprise for later in the year, that would be inconsistent with past practices.
All of this to say, the Spider-Man Commander deck is just a leak and a rumor for now, so we wouldn’t advise investing too much hope in it. While some over on r/mtgfinance are discussing possible speculations for the deck already, the best move is undoubtedly to wait. If the leak turns out to be false, then players who invest this way will end up with an awful lot of Spider-bulk on their hands.
