With MTG’s release calendar busier than ever, a rather annoying trend of Universes Beyond crossover leaks has popped up during prereleases for main-set products. This can break immersion for some players and often causes frustration.
Sadly, thanks to a few new leaks, some Star Trek tokens, alongside the names of a few cards, have come to light. On the plus side, these tokens aren’t the biggest leak in the world and are quite flavorful for Star Trek fans. Depending on how they’re created, one token in particular is extremely impressive, too, and could lead to some powerful cards.
Leaked MTG Star Trek Tokens
Leaked by the preorder of Sirius Dice’s MTG Star Trek Treasure Pack, which offers some stylish D20s and acrylic tokens, a few Star Trek tokens have come to light. While many of these tokens, including a Klingon Warrior, Officer, Illusion, Borg, and a Romulan, aren’t very exciting, the New Planet token is different.
Offering one mana of any color, the New Planet token is quite similar to the Everywhere token from Duskmourn. While a New Planet may not count for all Domain colors, it could offer Commander decks an incredible new ramp tool that seamlessly fixes your mana.
That said, while this token could be extremely powerful, its viability will largely depend on the cards that create it. So far,

is the only spoiled Star Trek card that creates a New Planet token, and it frankly isn’t very exciting. Since it has both a Landfall trigger and enables the mechanic, Explorer could show up in some budget Landfall Commander decks. Frankly, though, better New Planet token generators are probably still coming.
New Beadle & Grimms Product
Alongside these token leaks, a new Beadle & Grimms product is also available for preorder, confirming all the previous tokens while also revealing a Porthos token. The product also comes with the product line’s signature metal life counter and metal +1/+1 counters in the form of Ships. +5/+5 is mentioned here, suggesting that one of the new card names revealed here cares about that specifically.
On the note of new card names, this loosely confirms that the U.S.S. Enterprise, Voyager, Reliant, Defiant, and a Klingon Battle Cruiser will be appearing in MTG Star Trek. As iconic ships from massive arcs of the franchise, it would be a shock if these cards weren’t in the set, but it’s nice to see them confirmed regardless.
While it’s annoying to see any Universes Beyond leaks so close to Reality Fracture Prerelease, these leaks aren’t a massive deal. Hopefully, things stay that way, as things have easily been much worse in the past.
