Wizards of the Coast has not been having the best run with Secret Lair products recently. Not only was the eagerly anticipated Monster Hunter Superdrop scrapped entirely, but we’ve seen tons of leaks. Thanks to these, we’ve known about the Goblin Storm precon for almost three months at this point.
Following a plethora of leaks, we’ve known most of the important information about this precon for quite some time. Sadly, this puts a bit of a downer on Wizards of the Coast’s official announcement of the Goblin Storm deck. While this should have made the precon’s reveal a bit of a flop, Wizards has still managed to surprise us with a remarkably reasonable price point.
Goblin Storm Precon Finally Revealed

Ever since it was first leaked, MTG players expected the Goblin Storm precon to cost big money. Like the Everyone’s Invited precon, it seemed reasonable for this deck to cost $200 when it launches. Thankfully, Wizards has come in well below this expected price point, potentially due to how long Everyone’s Invited remained on digital shelves.
When the Goblin Storm precon is released on May 18th, it’ll be purchasable for $149.99. Currently, there’s no word on how much supply will be available; however, Wizards has been good about predicting demand recently. While this should hopefully mean there’s enough to go around, this deck is a worryingly good deal.
As the leaks foretold, the reprints in the Goblin Storm precon are worth around $250, at the time of writing. This is in large part thanks to key cards like Roaming Throne, Throne of Eldraine, and Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep. While Roaming Throne is the only card in this trio getting new art, the other cards getting new art from Wizard of Barge could easily boost the deck’s value more.
Thanks to this potentially insane value, the rush of demand for the Goblin Storm precon could be absolutely insane. Right now, we can only hope that Wizards has actually printed enough, but that remains to be seen. Sadly, since this deck looks like free money, for those who can afford it, any amount of supply could still sell out.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens on May 18th, when this Secret Lair precon is released. Considering this is the same day as the upcoming MTG ban announcement, it’ll certainly be a big day for Magic players.
