MTG Textless Multi-Format Removal Staple Promo Revealed

Share

Back in February, Wizards of the Coast revealed the upcoming MagicCon event in Amsterdam, set to take place July 17th-19th. Outside of the dates and some intriguing Garruk-themed artwork, however, no event details were made public at the time.

Now, Wizards of the Coast has finally presented new information for those interested in attending. As is the case for MagicCon: Las Vegas attendees in May, all participants at MagicCon: Amsterdam will receive a Wayfarer’s Bauble promo just for purchasing a badge. Interestingly, though, while we’ve seen this promo already, it appears that a new one is also on the horizon as well.

Prismatic Ending Promo

Anyone who attends MagicCon: Amsterdam over the summer will have the opportunity to pick up a sweet Prismatic Ending promo on site. Originally printed in Modern Horizons 2, this flexible removal spell sees tons of play to this day.

This powerful sorcery is at its absolute best in Modern, showing up in a variety of white decks from Jeskai Blink to Azorius Control. In an environment dominated by incredible, efficient threats like Ocelot Pride and Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, having a cheap answer is important. However, unlike other removal spell options, this potent sorcery can take care of problematic non-creature permanents like Goblin Bombardment. Prismatic Ending’s ability to answer High Noon and other hate cards makes it a staple in Ruby Storm sideboards, as well.

Beyond its uses in Modern, Prismatic Ending also has some nice utility in Legacy, seeing play in almost every white archetype across the format. Between tagging Dragon’s Rage Channeler out of Izzet Delver or Aether Vial out of Death and Taxes, this spell can come in clutch. Plus, with Energy strategies on the rise, Prismatic Ending has more targets now than ever.

Unfortunately, from a reprint value perspective, Prismatic Ending is nothing special. This isn’t too surprising for a recently printed uncommon, even with its vast playability. The card’s appearance in Mystery Booster 22 only tanked its value further, allowing players to pick up near mint non-foil copies for under $0.40.

How to Get It

While Prismatic Ending’s reprint value isn’t impressive, this promo variant could sell for a premium. In order to even have a chance to pick up a copy, attendees will need to spend at least 138 Euros in a single transaction at the Official Show Store in MagicCon Amsterdam. If that weren’t enough, this is only viable while supplies last.

This path to earning a promo isn’t new territory at MagicCon events. At MagicCon: Las Vegas last year, players could earn a sweet John Avon Swamp promo by spending $150 at once. Similarly, attendees at MagicCon: Chicago back in 2024 could get their hands on a Ponder promo. That said, these promos have also been available in Festival in a Box in the past, but it’s been somewhat inconsistent.

While we don’t know exactly how valuable the Prismatic Ending promo will be, past precedent shows Prismatic Ending could easily be worth more than its other versions. Both the Swamp and Ponder promos are selling for $5 or more, and it wouldn’t be shocking if the same ends up holding true here.

Nonetheless, this is still just speculation, as there’s a long way to go before MagicCon Amsterdam arrives. For now, if you’re interested in attending and getting your hands on this multi-format staple promo, make sure to mark your calendars.
