With Magic Spotlight: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wrapped up, Wizards is already pressing on with the next edition of the event. In May, the Standard-focused series will return with Magic Spotlight: Secrets, for Secrets of Strixhaven. Not only is there a $50,000 prize pool on the line, but there’s a snazzy new promo up for grabs, too.
As if this wasn’t enough, Wizards has also unveiled the next set of Commandfest events, happening throughout 2026. With a brand new textless promo available for attendees, there’s certainly a lot to look forward to in 2026.
The Liliana Vess MTG Spotlight Series Promo

For Magic Spotlight: Secrets, the new promo card is Liliana Vess. You can nab a non-foil version of this promo just by registering for the main Standard constructed event at the Spotlight. To claim the foil version, you’ll need to make the top 128. This Spotlight will run from May 8th-10th in London, England, and May 29th-31st in Chiba, Japan.
While Liliana certainly seems important to the story of Secrets of Strixhaven, this is far from the best version of her that Wizards could’ve highlighted here. Liliana of the Veil, Liliana, the Last Hope, and even Liliana, Dreadhorde General all have much stronger competitive records behind them.
That said, Liliana Vess does have nostalgia on her side, as this was the very first Liliana we saw. The card isn’t a total slouch playability-wise, either, seeing use in around 29,100 Commander decks according to EDHREC. This is mainly due to that -2 ability, which offers multiple tutors throughout the game.
Financially, this new Liliana Vess is a lot more exciting. While regular near-mint copies of this Liliana can be had for around $6, the Spotlight version could be worth a lot more. You’ll be able to snag a non-foil copy of it by registering for the Spotlight: Secrets main event, and a foil copy if you make the top 128. This means that, like previous promos in this series, supply will be fairly limited here.
Pretty much every previous Spotlight Series promo, from Terror of the Peaks to Vendilion Clique, has been worth a lot more than the original. In some cases, the difference is pretty extreme, too, like with the $7 Kaldra Compleat rising to $165 in its promo printing. Liliana is unlikely to rise that high due to its limited playability, but we should still be looking at a solid premium here.
The Fyndhorn Elves CommandFest Promo

In addition to the snazzy Spotlight Series Liliana Vess, we also got to see the 2026 CommandFest promo today, Fyndhorn Elves. This is an all-time classic mana dork, which EDHREC puts in around 372,000 decks in total, making it one of the top 10 most-played green creatures in the entire format.
While it’s solid in playability terms, financially, this new Fyndhorn Elves promo is a tricky one to evaluate. The card has had a bunch of reprints over the years, so near-mint copies can be had for around $1.40 these days. Recent rarer printings haven’t been significantly more expensive, either, going for around $4.
That said, we’ve never had a real premium printing of it like this before, so that could change the equation. Rare borderless printings of other staple mana dorks, like Llanowar Elves and Elvish Mystic, far outperform their regular printings, so this could easily be the case here, too.
That said, since buying a badge for a CommandFest event in 2026 is all you need to grab the elf, This Fyndhorn Elves promo will be more common than most. According to the announcement article, there are 16 of these lined up for the year, so there are plenty of chances to pick this one up.
As we’ve seen with past CommandFest promos, this could limit the price ceiling on Fyndhorn Elves. While promos like Reliquary Tower and Sol Ring are worth a bit more than the originals, there isn’t a ton of lift here. Fyndhorn Elves doesn’t seem hugely likely to break that mold at present, either.
