While Wizards of the Coast revealed most of the 2026 MTG release calendar at 2025’s MagicCon: Atlanta, there were a few secrets. For starters, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set didn’t get revealed until a couple of weeks later at New York Comic-Con. On top of this, most of the 2026 release dates weren’t confirmed exactly, as only vague release windows were provided instead.
At long last, however, Wizards of the Coast, or rather Hasbro, has finally revealed all. During the latest quarterly earnings report from Wizards’ parent company, Hasbro laid out the 2026 MTG release calendar in detail. This has finally confirmed the official release dates for The Hobbit, Reality Fracture, and Star Trek.
Release Dates Revealed

Following the release dates for Secrets of Strixhaven and Marvel Super Heroes being confirmed, the 2026 MTG schedule has finally been released in earnest. That being said, these dates haven’t officially been announced by Wizards yet, so they could be subject to change. Realistically, though, changes are very unlikely, and if they do happen, it’ll only be by a week.
For now, here’s the entire MTG release schedule for 2026, based on the dates in Hasbro’s latest investor report.
- Lorwyn Eclipsed – January 23rd
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – March 6th
- Secrets of Strixhaven – April 24th
- Marvel Super Heroes – June 26th
- The Hobbit – August 14th
- Reality Fracture – October 2nd
- Star Trek – November 20th
Unfortunately, while it’s nice to know when everything is being released, MTG players aren’t hugely happy about this reveal. At best, the longest time apart two MTG sets this year is a hair over two months, at 63 days. Worryingly, the shortest gap follows Reality Fracture, which should be the most important story-focused set of 2026.
Even if it ends up having a condensed spoiler season, there’s a good chance Star Trek will step on Reality Fracture’s toes. This is true for each set releasing this year, in fact, as most sets release within six weeks of oneanother. Thanks to this, there will be very little escape from Magic’s seemingly endless spoiler season.
Number Goes Up

Sadly, for any MTG players who aren’t happy about this news, it’s hard to say this approach doesn’t work. While there are concerns and even lawsuits about Wizards’ release strategy, it’s undeniably making tons of money. According to Hasbro, Magic: The Gathering had its strongest year ever in 2025, making around $1.7 billion.
Reportedly, while Final Fantasy was unsurprisingly a big factor in this success, MTG Avatar was a heavy hitter too. Secret Lair was also touted as being a key player, which is impressive considering the constant complaints. Unfortunately, Hasbro’s impressive figures make solutions to Magic’s problems feel unlikely, as clearly the current strategy works.
While we’re not optimistic, hopefully, the early reveal of the 2026 MTG release dates could be a blessing in disguise. If complaints about the short window following Reality Fracture’s release reach the right ears, Wizards could move things around. Admittedly, I can’t say I’m optimistic about this happening, but the potential is technically there.
Ultimately, as always, we sadly can’t predict the future of MTG, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens. That being said, 2027 should be better when we finally get around to that. Going forward, each year should only have six MTG sets being released, three in-universe and three Universes Beyond. Hopefully, this split should be slightly more manageable, but we’ll see about that.
