MTG Final Fantasy Scene Card Spikes 398% After Demand Surge

Share

With just a few days left in 2025, many MTG players are naturally looking forward to next year. Thankfully, not only does 2026 look absolutely loaded with content, but it starts with one hell of a bang, too. The surprisingly short spoiler season for Lorwyn Eclipsed starts on January 5th, and it’s bound to make a major impact.

Before then, however, it seems 2025 isn’t content to just fade away, as the MTG finance markets are still moving. We’ve actually seen this quite a bit recently, in fact, thanks to hype for Lorwyn Eclipsed building steadily. Alongside this, one Final Fantasy holiday release card has just suddenly spiked out of the blue.

MTG Campsite Cuisine

Campsite Cuisine MTG

Released as part of the Final Fantasy camp Comrades Scene Box, Campsite Cuisine flew under the radar for many players. While this set contained a fair few exciting new cards, thanks to missing gameplay events, this release lacked a lot of fanfare. As such, the December 5th release date came and went with many players not batting an eye.

After this, it took a couple of weeks for MTG players, ourselves included, to pay attention to Campsite Cuisine. Once we did, it quickly became clear that this card is hugely powerful within Food-focused Commander decks. Considering this is a fairly popular archetype in Commander, it certainly felt like Campsite Cuisine was being underplayed.

In a Food-focused strategy, Campsite Cuisine can easily churn out Food Tokens at a surprisingly impressive rate. Thanks to the density of legendary creatures in Commander, it’s easy to get far more than just one food for two mana. This alone would already be strong in a focused strategy, but this card offers a nasty one-two punch.

With enough Foods in play, Campsite Cuisine can easily be used to give your entire board a +3/+3 buff, with Trample and Indestructible too. Even if you only sacrifice one Food to target a single creature, the buff’s strength is massive. Whether you’re targeting your Commander or just a utility engine, Campsite Cuisine can easily force damage through.

Thanks to this strength, Campsite Cuisine is a fantastic auto-include in any Food-based Commander deck. Commanders like The Cabbage Merchant, Yagra, Eater of All, and Rocco, Street Chef, all love this card. Now that more MTG players know about it, it’s no wonder there’s been quite the rush in demand for it.

The Spike

Campsite Cuisine Price Spike

Even before Campsite Cuisine was put into the spotlight, it was already a fairly expensive MTG card. Selling for around $5.11 on average, it looks like this card’s value was originally propped up by its scarcity. After all, when looking at the play numbers on EDHREC, Campsite Cuisine really isn’t a popular card, even now.

Because Campsite Cuisine can only be found in the Camp Comrades Scene Box, there aren’t a ton of copies in existence. As we’re seeing now, this low supply makes the card rather vulnerable to surges in demand. With over 100 copies being sold in two days after the card received attention, there’s no denying this has happened.

Shortly after the surge in sales, there were very few near-mint foil copies left on the market, pushing prices up dramatically. Right now, there are only 30 listings for foil copies of Campsite Cuisine, and prices start at $25.47. Sales have continued to be fairly consistent at this price point, although some copies have even gone for $35.90.

Notably, foil copies of Campsite Cuisine are definitely the better purchase if you’re after one. Near-mint non-foil copies start at $33+, including shipping, right now, although nothing has sold at this price. Still, with sales still managing to hit $25.39, it’s clear that Campsite Cuisine is an expensive MTG card now.

The Future

Looking ahead, in the short term, it feels like there’s a very strong chance Campsite Cuisine will stay expensive. While it’s somewhat limited by being a Food Typal card, this is a popular and well-supported archetype. As new, powerful Commanders come along, demand for Campsite Cuisine will only increase.

For better or worse, it’s unlikely that supply will be able to meet this rising demand, as well. Since Campsite Cuisine can only be found in the Camp Comrades Scene Box, supply will always be rather limited. That said, the Camp Comrades box itself may become a steal, should prices continue to rise.

While supply does appear to be a limiting factor, Wizards of the Coast could easily reprint this card. It might technically be a Universes Beyond card, but its name is rather generic, so that shouldn’t prevent it from being reprinted. That said, reprint sources are limited nowadays, so outside of a precon or a bonus sheet, we may be waiting a while.

Ultimately, while things do look positive for Campsite Cuisine, the card isn’t that popular in MTG. On EDHREC, only around 1,860 decks are using this card, so it’s hardly a format staple. If supply isn’t the only thing limiting this play rate, demand could fall off over time. Ultimately, as always, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
