Lorwyn Story Reveal Confirms Leaked Return of 18-Year-Old Planeswalker

Welcome to Magic's "What If?" era!

The recent conclusion to the Lorwyn Eclipsed story was a big one. Right at the story’s close, a second Liliana Vess, clad in white rather than her signature black, stepped into the story alongside the original. This is already an exciting development, but it has broader implications for the MTG story going forward, thanks to confirming past leaks.

Back in November last year, a secretive survey from Wizards seemingly revealed some key details of Reality Fracture, a white version of Liliana among them. On top of this, the leaked survey suggests that Jace succeeds in his multiverse-altering plan, creating a brand new multiverse. Supposedly, at the center of this lies Hexhaven, a darker, alternate version of Strixhaven.

While Jace’s villain arc is already established, the leaks also claim that a white Liliana isn’t the only color-shifted planeswalker. The leaked set description mentions an icy version of Chandra, and a leaked survey image shows two versions of Garruk. Reportedly, there will also be a “bonus sheet of paired color-shift legends,” playing into the “What If?” multiverse shenanigans.

Given she appeared at the end of Lorwyn Eclipsed’s story, there’s a good chance the white Lilliana will reappear in April’s Secrets of Strixhaven. This isn’t guaranteed, of course, but we could easily see Hexhaven bleeding into Strixhaven as part of the set. Whether or not the MTG reality will be fracturing that soon, however, remains to be seen.

Sadly, since Reality Fracture doesn’t release until October 2026, more information is still a very long way out. Considering the importance of this set, Wizards will likely be keeping details close to their chest, too. As usual, we can expect more information at future MagicCon events, but even then, I wouldn’t expect many early reveals.

With MagicCons scheduled for May, July, and November, it’s likely we’ve at least got a seven-month wait for more details. Hopefully, when that time finally arrives, this set will live up to the quickly building hype. Whether or not this will actually be achieved, however, remains to be seen for now.
