MTG Holiday Gift Guide 2025

Share

The Christmas season is right around the corner, which means it’s time for the yearly struggle of running around to different places and grabbing gifts for your friends and family. With Magic: The Gathering having such an amazing year, there’s a very real chance that someone on your Christmas list is either discovering Magic for the first time or getting back into it.

While many MTG products can make for fantastic gifts, the big question is what do you get someone? With so many MTG sets, decks, and accessories being released each year, there’s no end of compelling options. Thankfully, if you’re struggling to decide, we’ve got you covered. Our MTG Holiday gift guide for 2025 has all of the best products to get your MTG playing friends and family.

MTG Final Fantasy Holiday Release

MTG Final Fantasy Holiday Release

The MTG Final Fantasy Holiday release is the newest set of products to be released in 2025. An expansion of the bestselling Final Fantasy set, four Scene Bundles offer Commander fans some new mechanically unique cards to brew around. While these might be things that some players ask for specifically on their Christmas list, there are two products from this release that stand above the rest.

If you’re shopping for a fan of both Final Fantasy and MTG, the Game Edition Commander deck might be the best choice for you. Offering the Limit Break Commander Precon alongside a Cloud, Midgar Mercenary promo, and a game code for Final Fantasy VII, the value in this Commander precon is absolutely ridiculous. The promo available in this special edition precon is worth about $65, according to TCGplayer. Throw in a singles value of $96 for the precon contents, and this is a slam dunk at the $99 MSRP. Sadly, this product has proven extremely popular, so finding a copy at a reasonable price will likely be a challenge.

Otherwise, the Final Fantasy Chocobo Bundle has also proven to be a financial goldmine for MTG players. As we pointed out in our promo breakdown of the product, all of the exclusive promos available in this set, outside of a few, are worth a considerable sum. Sadly, like the Game Edition Commander deck, finding these products for a good price is currently extremely difficult.

All of that said, these are the current hotness for MTG players, so if you manage to find them, that MTG player on your shopping list should be enthusiastic.

MTG Avatar: The Last Airbender Commander Bundle

It’s clear from recent developments that Avatar: The Last Airbender is a successful set on all fronts. This makes the entire set a strong gift for any MTG player, but the Commander Bundle from this release stands out.

On top of offering nine Play Boosters and a Collector Booster, where cards worth thousands of dollars can be found, this Bundle includes two randomized exclusive promos. Offering a powerful lineup of tutors and free Commander spells, many of the promos available in this collection are worth over $25. With the current $110 price on offer, this is a fantastic deal for the MTG fan on your Christmas list.

If you know for a fact that you or the person you’re buying a gift for isn’t the biggest fan of Commander, the Avatar Bundle might be better suited for them. There’s less offered here, but the price tag is also much more modest at about $65.

MTG Sleeves

MTG Card Sleeves Ultimate Guard Katana

If the MTG players on your Christmas list need more sleeves to protect their cards, there are two different brands we would recommend. Katana Sleeves are snug-fitting, reputable sleeves and offer a great shuffle feel. Dragon Shields, on the other hand, are more popular for players who want additional protection for their cards in the form of double sleeves.

If you want some more advice on what kind of MTG sleeves to look for, we have a more detailed guide you can check out here.

MTG Commander Precons

For newer MTG Commander players that are enthusiastic about expanding their collections, Commander precons are, by far, some of the best gifts you can give. The ability to unbox the precon and play some games with friends makes this extremely easy to use.

For newer players, the First Flight Starter Commander deck is a great gift. Any of the Starter Commander decks offer themes that are really easy to understand and play, making them among the best introductions to Commander on the market. This is an extremely cheap deck, to boot, only costing $25.

If your giftee is getting into MTG thanks to the game’s recent crossovers, your best bet is the Universes Beyond Commander decks. All of the recent Final Fantasy Commander precons are extremely well done, with lots of touches that your Final Fantasy fan will appreciate. Similarly, for Lord of the Rings fans, we cannot recommend the powerful Hosts of Mordor deck enough. The only downside to these precons is that they’re on the expensive side, but the play experience should more than make up for it.

If the MTG player on your Christmas list is experienced, we highly recommend the World Shaper deck from Edge of Eternities. This land sacrifice-themed deck is already quite powerful out of the box, but with minimal upgrades, the power level of this deck can skyrocket. This is a great tool for a player with a smaller collection to play up to stronger tables, but thanks to the deck’s complexity, it might be something to avoid for newer players.

For New MTG First-Timers

If the Magic player on your list really is delving into Magic for the first time, the Avatar: The Last Airbender Beginner Box might be the product you’re looking for. Teaching players how to play Magic and offering a place to start their collection, the Beginner Box is one of the best ways for a new player to jam some games with friends. If you don’t think the Avatar theming would work for your giftee, the MTG Foundations Beginner Box essentially offers the same thing at the same price with an MTG theme.

If they already know how to play but are still new, the MTG Foundations Starter Collection from MTG Foundations offers tons of interesting and powerful cards to experiment with.

No matter what kind of MTG player you’re shopping for, this should give you a strong place to start.
