In the grand scheme of MTG, Final Fantasy has only just been released. Officially launching on June 13th, we’re still seeing this latest set make huge waves in the competitive scene and financial markets. Somewhat unsurprisingly, players have been loving the set so far and will surely continue to enjoy it for some time.
For better or worse, that time may come to an end sooner than expected. While Final Fantasy events and Drafts still have time in the spotlight, another set is on its way. Scheduled to fully release on August 1st, Edge of Eternities is now right around the corner. Technically, this release date may be over a month away, but, as always, Wizards is getting the ball rolling early.
Edge of Eternities’ Late First Look
First teased way back in 2023’s Gen Con reveal stream, we’ve known about Edge of Eternities for quite some time. After being officially named back in October, we’ve seen a surprisingly large amount of information about the set. Art reveals, product information, leaks, and curious story details have all been revealed by Wizards of the Coast. One all-important detail, however, has been missing.
To date, we’ve not seen any MTG cards from Edge of Eternities. This, however, should be changing soon, as there’s an upcoming announcement this Friday. At MagicCon: Las Vegas, the Preview Panel will largely be dedicated to Edge of Eternities. While nothing is officially confirmed, this should be the official First Look for the set.
Technically, this sort of already happened back in February, when Wizards revealed new art and product information. During this announcement, from MagcCon: Chicago, however, Wizards didn’t reveal any cards. At the upcoming Las Vegas Preview Panel, this should finally change, at long last.
Currently, there’s no telling what might be revealed, as always, but Wizards seems to have a lot to choose from. We already know that Edge of Eternities is getting a spicy Headliner Card, and it’s got a curious Bonus Sheet too. Even if only a handful of new cards are revealed, there should be plenty to look forward to.
The only notable oddity about this Edge of Eternities First Look is how late it’s happening. Obviously, Wizards wanted to let Final Fantasy have the spotlight, but the set’s release is now fast approaching. By our count, the Edge of Eternities Spoiler Season should start on July 1st, 2025. Potentially, this upcoming first look will actually be the full Debut, kicking spoilers off early. Whether or not that happens, however, remains to be seen.
More Reveals for Magic in 2025
As if Edge of Eternities reveals weren’t enough, the MaigcCon: Las Vegas Preview Panel has even more in store. Specifically, Wizards states there will be “more reveals for Magic in 2025 and beyond.” Sadly, while this does sound rather exciting, there’s no telling what Wizards actually has planned here.
Given Wizards appears to be limiting their reveals to 2025, information about Marvel’s Spider-Man seems somewhat plausible. Since this is a Universes Beyond set, which typically gets longer hype cycles, we could even see new cards. Whether or not this will happen on the same day that we get Edge of Eternities spoilers, however, remains to be seen.
Thankfully, while these mystery reveals are in the dark for now, we won’t have to wait long for answers. After all, the MagicCon: Las Vegas Preview Panel is happening in just a few days.
MagicCon: Las Vegas Preview Panel
As mentioned, we won’t have to wait long for more information about Edge of Eternities and more. The MagicCon: Las Vegas Preview Panel is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 20th, at 1 PM Pacific Daylight Time. For reference, this is 4 PM EDT or 9 PM BST. Like most preview panels, this event is expected to last for around one hour.
Sadly, it’s currently unclear if this presentation will be livestreamed on Twitch or YouTube. Thankfully, Wizards will typically post any new reveals to Twitter and BlueSky as they happen. MTG players in attendance will often do the same on Reddit, so there are several places to keep track of.
Thankfully, we’re here to help cut through any potential confusion as we’ll be covering all the latest reveals and announcements. So, if you want to stay in the loop about all things Edge of Eternities and more, just watch this space.
While the Preview Panel is the headline announcement of MagicCon: Las Vegas, it’s not the only exciting panel. Not only are there tons of gameplay and live events, but the Commander Format Panel has its own panel. During this panel, on Sunday, some of Wizards’ Commander Panel will be talking about the past and future of the format, which sounds very intriguing.
Ultimately, as always, we’ll just have to wait and see what gets revealed when the time comes. It certainly seems, however, that we’ll have a lot to look forward to.
