It’s not uncommon for MTG Secret Lairs to sell out, but in recent days, it seems that Wizards of the Coast has done their due diligence in figuring out the best ratios for supply. Despite going on sale last week, The Ultimate Pencil Secret Lair Superdrop is completely available, which is incredibly unusual. That said, the recent MagicCon: Las Vegas Festival in a Box has sold out immediately.
The Festival in a Box MTG products are routinely incredible deals as far as MTG finance goes, but this particular box stepped things up even more. Offering almost $400 in value, this product was shockingly priced at $200. MTG players didn’t have long to be shocked, however, before the product disappeared from the market.
Shocking Festival in a Box Sellout
Players were truly astonished by the price point for the MagicCon: Las Vegas Festival in a Box. As Longjumping_Okra_434 points out, the Mystery Booster 2 Box alone is worth more than $200. This, essentially, means you’re getting a Booster Box for cheap with a bunch of freebies thrown in. While Festival in a Box products are routinely strong deals, this is truly a cut above the rest.
Mystery Booster Box aside, even the extras offered in this Festival in a Box were better than expected. One Secret Lair and three promotional cards were included within this product, as usual. Sliver Hive and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon both got beautiful reprints here, adding about $19 and $14 of value, respectively.
Out of the Secret Lair, Oloro, Ageless Aesthetic is a surprisingly valuable card thanks to a lack of reprints. This $25 card is one of the better Lifelink Commanders out there. The other Secret Lair inclusions, while not valuable, do provide alternate artwork for popular Commanders for the first time, potentially increasing demand. No matter the reason for purchasing this highly desirable deal, it’s clear that MTG players were more excited for this Festival in a Box than the recent Chicago product.
Needless to say, MTG players are rather disappointed at the unexpected turn of events. Many interested buyers were unable to grab the Festival in a Box before it disappeared. There have been some relistings on third-party sites, but unless you’re willing to pay $100 markups, you’re out of luck.
