The spoiler season for the Final Fantasy MTG set truly has no brakes. Since Saturday, we’ve been inundated with a steady stream of new main set and Bonus Sheet spoilers. As if that wasn’t enough, Wizards’ shadow dropped four Commander decks on Monday, and there’s the Starter Kit too.
Miraculously, there’s even more on top of all that, as Final Fantasy is getting three Secret Lair drops. In a rare twist, these Secret Lair drops contain some pretty impressive value, alongside looking fantastic. Somehow, the excitement still doesn’t stop there, as Wizards has now confirmed the Bonus Cards that can appear within the new Secret Lair drops.
In total, it has been confirmed that eight unique Bonus Cards are up for grabs this time around. Within this selection, three are normal, while five are rare random inclusions. It seems the Final Fantasy MTG set really does just get better and better with each passing day.
The Main Three

Technically, each of the upcoming Final Fantasy Secret Lair drops has a fixed Bonus Card. As mentioned, however, there are also the five rare cards that you might find instead. For the most part, however, upon cracking one of the new Secret Lairs, you’ll find the corresponding card below.
- Feed the Swarm | Secret Lair x FINAL FANTASY: Game Over
- Silence | Secret Lair x FINAL FANTASY: Grimoire
- Forge Anew | Secret Lair x FINAL FANTASY: Weapons
While each of these reprints has been given a new Final Fantasy-themed lick of paint, they’re mostly fairly unexciting. Only one of these cards is anything close to exciting from a finance perspective, and that’s Silence. At their cheapest, copies of this card sell for around $7.50, and this Final Fantasy variant could easily sell for more.
Thanks to this Bonus Card being a mostly fixed inclusion, this reprint bumps up the total value of the FINAL FANTASY: Grimoire drop to $60. Considering the asking price of $29.99, there’s an insane amount of value on offer here. There’s so much, in fact, that demand for this drop may be extremely high, making acquiring it rather difficult.
For better or worse, the other two Bonus Cards don’t have this value-based issue. Forge Anew is only worth around $2, however, it is technically still a notable reprint. This Forge Anew Bonus card is the first time that a Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth card is getting a Secret Lair reprint. While this may not add much to the card’s price, it’s nevertheless notable.
Finally, last, and also least, Feed the Swarm is only worth around $0.20. This card has been reprinted time and time again in Commander precons, so it’s really not impressive at this point.
Five Rare Bonus Bombs
As mentioned, on top of the three main Final Fantasy Bonus Cards, there are five rare randomly available options. Any one of these five cards can be found in any of the Final Fantasy Secret Lair drops. At the moment, the exact drop rate of these cards is unclear, and it’s unknown if any of them are rarer than others.
This selection of Bonus Cards reprints each of the Evoke Elementals from Modern Horizons 2. While these cards are infamous for their format-warping power, MTG players are loving these new variants. On social media, MTG players were quick to share their excitement, especially for Subtlety and Grief.
While there’s no denying the power of these cards, they’re not actually too impressive financially anymore. Since Fury has been banned from Modern and Grief from both Modern and Legacy, they’re no longer the financial powerhouses they once were. Instead, Solitude is currently the most expensive Evoke Elemental, which currently sells for $18.
Dropping down from this impressive price point, Endurance is the next most expensive at $8. Subtlety follows shortly after at $5, then Fury and Grief are $3 and $1, respectively. Considering these Modern titans used to sell for $40 apiece, it’s safe to say the mighty have fallen.
Even though Grief might not be worth a lot anymore, there’s a good chance this Bonus Card will still be very expensive. Not only are MTG players and Final Fantasy fans loving the art, but it’s going to be rare. Depending on how rare this card is, it could sell for a few hundred dollars, even if it’s largely unplayable.
Coming Soon Ish
Ultimately, we’re just going to have to wait and see to find out how rare these cards are. Just be sure to keep your sleeves handy if you’re buying one of the Final Fantasy Secret Lair drops. Notably, these Secret Lair drops will be going live for sale on June 9th at 9 a.m. PST via the Secret Lair website as normal.
According to Wizards of the Coast, the Final Fantasy Secret Lair drops will be part of the Summer Superdrop for 2025. This seems a little quick, considering the Ultimate Pencil Superdrop just launched on May 12th. Curiously, despite having some great-looking drops with exciting reprints, nothing from the Ultimate Pencil Superdrop has sold out yet.
Potentially, this could be good news for Final Fantasy and Secret Lair fans. If Wizards of the Coast has printed tons of product, then getting hold of drops could be surprisingly easy. That being said, the hype around the Final Fantasy MTG set is unlike anything else. Even if Wizards has increased print runs, I’d still expect the Final Fantasy drops to sell out.
As always, this means that MTG players may have to be quick on the buzzer once June 10th rolls around. Hopefully, this won’t be necessary, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
